Be wary of the Dobyns soild tip BFS rods. I have heard that they take away from the hook setting power when using single hook presentations. I would get Phenix L rod if you want to stay USDM or one of many JDM rods if you don't mind not getting a warranty.
The forged aluminium must absorb the mechanical resonance in them, other than the cast aluminium frames. Most round reels are machined from a single piece of metal... forging is how a something like a sword is made by heating and reheating the metal and pounding it into shape. :) The aluminum they ...
If you're bass fishing the older reels are great. If you are doing the stream fishing stuff with tiny UL baits then newer is going to be better. It really comes down to what baits you are going to throw.
I broke the tip off my BE2 untangling it from a group of other rods. I can see how that can happen but no other rods have done it. To me they are on the fragile side so just handle them with care and you'll be fine. How long had you had the rod? Did you buy new from an authorized MB dealer? A year ...

I've always thought the idea of a custom braking profile for a DC reel would be cool. I always envisioned it as a system that generates its own power and to set parameters and braking curves you would connect it to a PC and power the reel via a mini USB. You would run a program to visualize and chan...
For weightless Flukes I like a regular taper M rod. I can get by with a stiffer M or softer MH mod fast for Caffeine Shads or Flukes with a 3/16 oz weighted hook. Best combo I ever had in my hands for distance casting a weightless Fluke on a thin wire superline hook was an Orochi xXx BE2 and a Ray's...
Its because there is no changing of hands with spinning reels. You reel in the same position you had just cast the reel in. But the act of rod manipulation and turning the reel handle is the same regardless if you're using spinning or casting gear. I can't work the rod tip with my right hand, and I...
Maybe this is the time for me to learn left hand retrieve, so I can get my paws on one early. Anyone else make the switch after right hand retrieving your whole life? How did it go? Are you right handed in general? Do you cast with right? For me, baitcasting reels are either or. Spinning reels...th...
cast with my right hand and retrieve Bait casters with the right hand, retrieve spinning gear with my left hand . Currently, retrieving a bait caster with my left hand feels extremely awkward. but retrieving spinning gear with the left feels normal. I will never, ever understand this - I do everyth...
Calling this a gen 2 is a bit much. Its a long overdue update to the Steez A. Something Daiwa should do more often come to think of it. They seem to let a reel rot until the next gen replacement. They should practice what the auto industry does and do a mid cycle refresh to update and address custom...
Good idea, but i doubt that it will be compatible. If it is, tho, i am getting a set as well. It appears to be the old Z platform. I don't see why the gears wouldn't fit the old Z. Because they're over 10 years apart. The newer gears that's being made by Daiwa are very different to what was made ag...
