Re: New Curado MGL 150

Did they actually modify the gearing? On the shimano site it doesn’t specify if anything was actually changed.

Re: So what is the point of the Micro Module Gears outside of marketing?

Ouch. I wonder how many people are in the same situation you are in. I'm in the same spot as Kurt, I loved swapping around with Daiwa and Shimano and playing with all they had to offer. Back with the e series and older shimano reels I never had a single issue with gears. Now with the latest iterati...

Re: JDM Zillion 1000 feelings

I don't use braid, just 10-12lb mono/fluoro so my drag is set comparably light to some folks and they still went buzzy after a few fish. I don't get it because some folks seem to get good life out of them. I don't get it either. Especially after a few fish. That's maybe ~100 or so revolutions of th...

Re: JDM Zillion 1000 feelings

Its Shimano that has issues with the aluminum gears. And now brass To say I'm not a fan of micro module gears is an understatement. I've had 3 separate Met B XGs all go buzzy with the brass MM gears within just a couple days use. Actually had to put new gear sets in them before I sold them they wer...

My 8.5 has bottom contact duty and had pulled quite a few fish now. Still as smooth as new.

Re: Any reviews on the 2021 Shimano Conquest vs the 19 Conquest DC?

If you plan on casting anything 1/4oz or less the MGL spool is the way to go. Other changes with the 21 is the 7.4 ratio vs the 6.8, infinity drive (really does give effortless cranking, the 7.4 felt like it had cranking reel power) and the 21 sits a little lower than the older models.

Re: Anyone send their reel back to Japan?

You wouldn’t need to send the reel back to Japan to be serviced. Parts can be ordered from Japan and places like the tackle trap can service the reel. Most of my reels are JDM and getting parts shipped in is pretty easy. Other than the specific HG gear set other parts should be domestically available.

Re: JDM Drop Shot Reel Shallow Spool

I'm really enjoying the daiwa luvias lt 2000s. It has been a big step up over my stradic FL1000s in pretty much all aspects. I like the newer MQ body design over the previous daiwa reels, I actually prefer the luvias over my older 2015 exist 2004. From the shimano side I've heard nothing but great t...

2021 steez ags rods

These new ones look very racing design inspired, from the looks and a couple models. And for once Daiwa didn’t raise the price but actually dropped it a few $ across the board. I’ll wait for Gary to chime in on how improved they are but I’m actually pretty interested in these.

Re: Major Craft Rod for Guadalupe Bass Recommendations

I haven’t tried MC trout casting rods yet. I have a 6’1” custom rod built off a phenix mirage blank. Super soft, treble hooks only for that one. The bass bfs gear seems to be just about the right taper and power to use a combination of small presentations on a single combo. I picked up a 5’ MC aji-d...

The MS-X limited has been discontinued for a while and are difficult to source sadly. The ms-x will be going bye bye as well this year and a lot of the models are already out of stock. The speedstyle was also discontinued and clearanced out so the days is the highest end bass rod in production at th...

I posted a couple pics of the 853 and 873 balance with my alphas (5.88oz) in the other thread. They were the only ones they had in stock or I would have checked them all.

Got to check out the balance of the 853 and 873 with my alphas. Reel weighs 5.88oz as it sits (aluminum steez gears installed).
