21 Steez SV TW Limited

The previous thread for this reel turned into quite the dramafest. I just read through all of it, up to the point that Cal locked it down. Though I have to say kudos to Tim. You're a great mod bud. Anyways, has a 2nd thread already been created for this reel? If so, can someone point me in the right...

Re: To Spiral Or Not to Spiral... what is your preference?

I think they work for everything, but that’s just me. Ok, so theoretically I may (or not) see increased casting distance on a trap rod when bombing open water on a search and destroy mission and on a shorter squarebill rod I may see better accuracy when pinpointing precise targets ? Doesn't matter ...

Re: Steez Universal Light

I run a Steez SV TW on it (and occasionally an SV Light). The Steez in particular is a match made in heaven if you get the 6.3:1 (red accents). 12lbs fluoro. Used it for jerkbaits a bunch (Vision 110 and 110Jr), as well as larger weedless tubes (3.5” Tour Tube from Big Bite Baits) and flukes. I’ve ...

Re: NEW Phenix Ultra MBX w/T40J

I finally got one of the newer designed one. I choose the 7' Light power one. I have the previous one 6'6" Light power Ultra MBX classic one to compare with. The locking nut on this is nothing special, rather basic standard one. The thing I don't seem to like much about it is too much exposed threa...

Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread

Alphas ct/steez ct are hard to beat when dialed in on the right rod for lighter stuff. I don't own 34mm ktf neo so I'm in no position to assure you how good your neo spool is  You're killing me here man. Why you keep trying to get me to buy a Steez CT 🤷‍♂️. So which spool do you prefer for ver...

Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread

Played around with ktf neo a couple of times this week and my quick take on it. In Alphas it's now similar to steez ct/alphas ct, of course a bit faster and quicker. I can get slight more distance with neo with something like 1/3 oz lipless same line/same rod. For lures around 1/2 oz total weight, ...

Re: Zodias vs Xpride actions

I'm no expert, but I am a big fan of Shimano blanks - especially the higher end stuff. I think the easiest, most sensible way to look at this is that within each line, as the price increases, the blanks are going to increase in crispness, making the blank a little more stiff throughout. What you may...

Re: 2022 Daiwa Silver Creek Air TW Stream Custom

When this was first unveiled I thought for sure I was going to get it, based on aesthetics alone. However with the cost, and the plastic engine cover, I am not so sure anymore. Might get CQ bfs or wait for new aldebaren bfs instead. Maybe once this is released and people start reviewing it I will c...

I think the aluminum handle actually looks quite nice on this reel.

Re: Sunline Defier D Braid

Has anyone used this line? I ordered a spool of 9 lb for my hair jig rod. The line looks promising for this technique because of the core to prevent wind knots. I'm usually not a line snob and use 832, but this is a technique where casting distance is essential. I have Smackdown on the rod now and ...

Re: 2022 Daiwa Silver Creek Air TW Stream Custom

Best looking reel Daiwa has produced in a while - imo. I want one, but I will hold off until until others have used it with different spools. Don't need another BFS reel. Or should I say, HYPER BFS reel.

Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread

I have a ktf finesse for steez ct/alphas ct. Not sure what you meant by hollow feel from the shaft but it does have that annoying noise from the micro bearing when winding, not as bad as rays studio but still. Ive already spooled the neo with lines, hoping to test it out within next few days. Pleas...

Re: 6'10 Adrena vs 6'10 Expride

Well, I said I wouldn't touch it until xmas, but I also wasn't supposed to work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and ended up going into the office after all, so I spend a couple hours with the Expride and Adrena yesterday afternoon. Did a few direct A/B comparisons by casting into the same area an...
