Show off your OG Zillion
Re: Show off your OG Zillion
Thanks, I wish I could take better pics of that black zillion. So much nicer in person
The 50th has a 90mm RCS crank handle.

My favorite two

Haha the spacer just makes zillion more playful. Gonna try BFS zillion this summer.
Re: Show off your OG Zillion
May I ask an honest question? Does the gold ring on the guide serve a purpose other than beauty? I'm getting a reel that the ring is gone, but the price was really good, so I bought it anyway. I see Gary has guides for $17.99, so not too big a deal, but figured I'd ask.

Yes it's Titanium Nitride coated - not sure what base it is Zircon or other but it is impervious to line wear - if it's not there line will cut through the plastic carrier pretty quick.Drew03cmc wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 11:10 pmMay I ask an honest question? Replace it.

Thanks. I was planning to order it and send it to my guy for ceramics and carbontex as well. It'll be a sweet chatterbait reel.

Re: Show off your OG Zillion
Only Zillion I've managed to snare is a decent 50th anniversary - low production number. The front chrome nose piece chrome peeled off so that was replaced with a J-Dream nose as that's all I could get here in Australia...
I'd have heaps more in my little collection, but for the fact that a trashed and completely corroded out specimen still goes for $200 and up isn't my cup o' tea...

It's definitely the version I see most wanting way too much money for. Do you know how many were made?Slazmo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 1:11 pmOnly Zillion I've managed to snare is a decent 50th anniversary - low production number. Re: Show off your OG Zillion
Well there were 3 versions of the 50th made the USDM, JDM and that Tackle Shop's own green version if I'm correct in memory.
I've asked around a fair bit for how many were made but no-one ever had a solid answer, nor did anyone want to disclose their build number to a list?
Enough 0's there for an extremely large build batch though...

Re: Show off your OG Zillion
On the JDM site, first number in the display reel looks like an 8. Given the price they sold for in Oz when first released, I dont think it was really a limited release. Serial number may mean a few things, such as batch number, country of distribution etc. When first released in Australia, they were under Au300, making them one of the cheapest Zillions.
Re: Show off your OG Zillion
Is it gone or just a different color? The Megabass IP reels have a ceramic insert that is is dark grey color.Drew03cmc wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 11:10 pmMay I ask an honest question? Very nice That Deps Zillion is one of my favorites and yours is unique.
Hey Dom - the 36mm blue isn't ported, so the one pictured here is a standard BE with spacers... The non-ported 36mm must be the rarest of all the old ZPI spools!

I haven’t seen one pictured for quite a while, but I do know of someone who has one. Wink wink nudge nudge.
