agree with 901S and also the Daiwa BLX 6'-10" light plus is incredible.

Re: Rods with the 'it' Factor
I’m somewhat of an off shore fisherman so I’m using rods at 7’3” and above pretty exclusively. That being said that 902s conquest for my deep water Shakey heads is just a crazy rod. I use it on almost every trip

Custom K2 764 w/ 2" off the tip (Senkos and ikas)
Dobyns 705cb glass fast (squarebills)
Steez XBD Frog Rod (frogs, 5" swimbaits)
Was never impressed with MB rods other than the looks.

Which part didn't impress you? Not challenging your opinion, rod preferences are usually deeply personal, anyway. Just asking because I'd just hooked into an almost-8 pounder from shore on a new FMJ and had to do the "dammit-I'm-too-high-up-on-a-ledge-and-need-to climb-down-steep-rock-but-not-lose-the-fish" dance and I was impressed by how well that rod allowed me to keep her pinned (and land her). So my experience has been super positive so far and that rod goes on my "it factor" list (and I like the sensitivity I'm getting - maybe that's your hangup).

How does this compare to the Nautilus? I’m a fan of the AGS lineup and have the 75MH on my radar, but also very curious about the Nautilus.
Also, no mentions of the P3 Bearing Down. Are there better offerings now?
Re: Rods with the 'it' Factor
I suppose I lied. The Destroyer Onager is one of the best rods that I've used for baits around 4oz or so, although not my first choice.Drakestar wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 12:05 pmWhich part didn't impress you? Sensitivity of most rods isn't a problem for me, I'm more concerned about balance, recoil, and rod taper for the intended application. It took years and years to find a certain rod for certain applications. I never used a MB rod that wow'd me with the techniques I use (other than the Onager), so they didn't stay.
I now build some of my rods when I can't find what I'm looking for in a factory rod, but it's a hassle to build so I still buy rods off the shelf from time to time.

I'm not supposed to help, I'm supposed to spread the joy
Yes sir it really is...
I'm so glad you felt that way, as did several other guys I spoke with over the weekend. That is EXACTLY why that last one very rod was held for the Classic. The entire first production run has been sold out for some time and hopefully, we'll have our new second production run in stock shortly. The plan was to have them for the Classic, but it didn't happen, so I made sure it was on site because a lot of guys came by just to check it out, and pre-order for the new run. Hopefully we'll have them back in a couple weeks and all the pre-order folks will get theirs soon.down4ttown wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 6:10 pmHonestly, the most impressive rod I held today at the expo.
