Best buzzbait

Jig it, spin it, buzz it, if it's got a wire or a lead head, it can and will be discussed in here.

Best buzzbait

Post by lifeofRiley » Sun Jul 28, 2019 9:49 pm

there seems to be a dizzying array of buzzbaits on the market now. Fishing over the weekend I see that I have buzzers from half a dozen brands, and I'd rather stick to one bait and know it well. What is your favorite?

I've thrown a few and like both the Cavitron and the Damiki MTB without the knocker. The Damiki comes up on plane quickly and I've caught some quality fish on it, but the Cavitron has a unique sound and just simply catches fish.

Depends on where you fish it. For open water the cavitron or the Booyah buzzbait with a clacker have great sound. Now if you are fishing around grass or moss they will fowl up quickly. The war eagle buzzbait is amazing and comes through grass and moss better than the others and flat out gets bit. It is also very in expensive. Probably my go to buzzbait.

Everyone will say Cavitron, but I seem to always reach for a V&M buzz frog. Stanley makes a bigger version that works well too.

I like the 3 blade Strike King buzzbait. You can fish it S-L-O-W and it stays on top.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I like the Booyah buzzbaits. I picked up a few when a local store went out of business. Works really well. I took the skirt off and glued a toad on it. I turned the nose up on the toad slightly so it planes faster.

Although not a true buzzbait, the Argobast Buzzplug has caught many fish for me. Casts like a rocket, can be paused, and is durable. It doesnt do the greatest in thin-stranded vegetation. I replace the stock hook for a Gamakatsu frog hook (dual hook).

Another vote for Cavitron.

However, for a "finesse" buzzbait, I really like the Picasso Buzz Saw Jr (1/8 oz). Caught a 6 lber and several in the 2 to 3 range since June with it. It gets on plane pretty quickly and can be crawled across the surface like a Cavitron.

x2 for the Buzzsaw Jr- was amazed at how far I could cast it given that its only 1/8oz.

I’ve used cavitron for the last couple years.

My go-to the past two seasons has been a Revenge Baits buzzbait. Cavitron is next in line. For years I had a local guy that built some sweet buzzers, but no more to be had.

I have a local MidWest guy who hand makes quality buzzbaits that clack and wiggle. They are called Rowdy buzzbaits.
