I've really been enjoying my Diawa Alphas CT SV with a MajorCraft Crostage 69ML. I upgraded the spool bearings to full zirconium bearing (white) and got some cheap AliExpress alu knobs (ProCure makes the rubber knobs sticky and gross). Spooled with some 1.2PE Diawa Tournament 8 braid I found lying around.
Been using it for UL inshore fishing in South Carolina. It has handled the usual trout and small spots very well, and casts fantastically with the regular winds we have. Using from 1/16oz jigheads with TRD Tubez to 3/16oz with 3.75 streakz. Love that I don't have to do any adjustments if I change lures or casting directions.
Now, if I can only get those baby tarpon in the ponds to stay on....

I will probably be getting a Diawa Air Edge Mobile 664ML for traveling (SE Asia and South Africa)

I really like the FTB brakes for the wind. They braking system is actually pretty nice all around.

Shimano Poison Ultima BFS w/Calcutta BFS reel. 12 lb. Sunline braid to a 6 or 7 lb. Sunline Flouro leader.

I like the Picasso Aaron Martens Rhino hooks w/the Missle Baits Ned Bomb. Also, the Yamamoto Gary Rig hook w/a 3 inch Senko (or a 5" Senko cut in half when fish have torn it up).

Megabass Eiger Northwall paired with a '12 Aldebaran BFS XG- the rod works great but I definitely think it would be better if it was a little longer so I'm looking for the Super Eiger.

Conquest 50S (tuned) on a Major Craft Days DYC-682L/BF rod.

10# sufix

Pretty easy to throw 1/16 heads on this thing.

I knew there was a place for the likes of my kind. I could cast most medium sized nedrigs and even smaller ones. Sure I won't get as much distance as an ounce football jig but distance is an afterthought.

I actually live in the Midwest. Most people I know use spinning gear. About every 30 people I run into will use a baitcaster. I love casting gear and have since I started using casting gear in the early 2000s. Reels have really come up in quality and technology quite a bit.

My dad is a die hard spinning gear guy. You can't change someone and even if I could I would not. I've learned so much from him and learned to apply it to the way I fish.
