I've used it pretty successfully. Conditions have to be right though.
If you see fish schooling, it's one of the best baits to throw IMO, can be better than a soft swimbait.

Got a few in today, I won't be able to use them until sunday but they look nice.

I agree. I had a chance to fish the size 11 for a bit this past week, ended up catching a small smallie and lost a slightly larger one in maybe an hour of fishing (plus 2 pike including a 5-6lber), both bass were chasing stuff on surface. The pike hit while letting the bait pause and fall on a controlled line.
In terms of the bait falling, I'd say they fall sort of like a tube while the blade flutters/rotates (it's a very slow spiral though if I remember correctly). Probably induces a bit of twist but it wouldn't be much unless the bait is constantly being stopped
