Enthusiast/JDM rod for moving baits

Post by chriso916 » Sat Aug 03, 2019 9:38 pm

Hey TT Fam -

Looking for Recs for a JDM or high end rod for moving baits in the 3/8 - 1oz range. Lipless cb, shallow-med divers, and small swimbaits on jig heads/screw locks.

Will be paired with a metanium 6.2:1.

Thanks!
Chris

I'm at the same way looking for a JDM high end hybrid rod for 1/2 chatterbaits...

The Megabass Valkyrie 71MH is an excellent choice for moving baits in that size range. I've used mine for spinner baits, vibrating jigs, big square bills, larger top water treble baits, buzz baits, etc. It's definitely enthusiast level stuff.

I have 3 Valkyries, except for the one Gary mentions and it sounds like it would be perfect for the bait range you provided. All of mine are used for moving baits.

Steez Flexlite MH. It's one sweet crankbait rod. 1/4 - 1 3/8.

Look at the JDM Steez lineup. Several options from Gan Craft, Deps, Evergreen, etc. Just visit the websites.

Could be an error??

VKC-611MH 197g 6'11" Medium Fast 3/8~1oz 12~25lb Casting

VKC-71MH 174g 7'11" Medium Fast 3/8~1oz 12~25lb Casting

I don't buy the Serval just because its a 2014 model and I Think its too much heavy in weight and after 6 years new model must be coming but wooow those megabass models are so heavy also...

Depending on your preference, the Evergreen Stallion RS might be worth looking at. Would handle those weight ranges well.

If you're asking whether the listed weight and or ratings are an error, I don't know as I don't have a 611MH. I do have the 71MH and it's an outstanding rod for the applications I listed regardless the weight. I put a heavy Daiwa SV103HL on there too

It does seem odd, but I can't help with that one unfortunately. Maybe another member has the 611MH. All joking aside, that Valkyrie may appear heavy on paper, but the rod fishes like a champ... it has been one of my most used Megabass rods this year.
