Shimano conquest 903c?

Post by Matt_3479 » Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:30 pm

Looking at potentially picking one up from a buddy at a good price. Wondering from anyone who has experience what your thoughts are on this rod, and what you find it best for?

I really don’t need it, but if I did I would kind of like it for chatterbaits, paddletails, whopperploppers and double down for deep water bottom contact

LOL, how many times have I said that!! "it was ion sale"
If the price is rite, just grab it, you will find a use for it!!! :big grin: I have the 904C, very versatile, will pretty much do everything you have on the list.

Haven't used mine such, but I really happy with it. Great MB Dark Sleeper rod.

Great rod for everything you mention! Stay in the listed weight range, and throw basically anything you want. Haven’t found a lure yet that my Conquests can’t fish effectively. Really versatile rods.

Thank you everyone, I might have to pass on it cause I really need a rod that can handle a 110 whopper plopper. I don’t throw a lot of chatterbaits as I’ve had terrible luck with them. Not sure if I’m really looking for a rod of this length. I always wanted an 893 nrx but I now have 894, 853, 852 so I’m not sure if the 903 really fits right. I was kind of looking at a 7’2” medium heavy expride. Only thing is the price is so good

Indeed the 110 plopper would be just a tad heavy, the 75 would be perfect.
You could just buy it and if you don't like it, just pm me and I'll take it off your hands

for what its worth, i have the poor man's version of this rod (the E6X 903c) and I must say I love it.

I throw everything with it, the extra length combined with the MBR MH taper is awesome.

I would imagine the Conquest version would cast a little better (better guides) and be more crisp.

Thank you. What seems to be the best for this rod though?

I use mine for spinner baits, crankbaits and jigs on the bottom.

It does well with all these. it is meant to be an all purpose rod so it will tend to do everything well.
