Longer ML spinning rod

Post by casterus » Tue Apr 23, 2019 3:38 pm

Hi everyone
I'm looking for suggestions on truly ml spinning rod.
Currently I'm using Conquest 902 for my finesse fishing.
It's nice for 1/8 shaky head + worm, jigs etc, but can't go lower with good distance. Looking for rod more than 7'. Is 7'6" Steez ags m/ml good for lighter applications? Other options?
Thanks
Adam

Not sure about the steez but I would take a look at the new Megabass Flyssa, I just got one yesterday and have used it
only twice but I'm super impressed.

I been looking for a longer lighter action spinning rod for a long time and this fills that need perfectly.

The Steez AGS is the one. I have two of them...well actually just one since the other one I bought was broken during shipping. It broke back in early February I believe and Daiwa says I'll get the replacement at the end of May.

Not a well advertised brand but Tenryu makes some nice rods and has a ML spinning rod that is 7’5” RZ75ML. I’ve owned both their spinning and now BFS rods and quality is second to none.

You might want higher end but if not St Croix Avid 8' ML/Mod cant toss lighter fairly well. I throw 1/32 with 2" keitech paddle tail decently with mine using 8# nanofil line. Works well with Bitsy Minnows weighing .08oz.

Check out Phenix.

I just bought one for my lawyer and he loves it. A fantastic pencil rod.
Why is there a concerted effort of hate? And why is it allowed?

Agree with ShimanoFan, check out Phenix, the feather series has a 7'7 Medium, but their Medium is more like a ML, and the M1 has a 7'8 Medium.

The Steez AGS 76MML is magic. It's just one of those rods that has "it" without a doubt. I've been fishing mine every chance I get since I got it last year. I highly recommend this rod as a lighter power option than what you have. We will have more coming soon...

I have a feeling this stick would be absolutely killer with slip bobbers for walleye. 8-)

I’m afraid you’re going to think I’m stalking you, but every time you post lately, it brings up something I’m curious about. I was going to chime in and suggest the Tatula Elite Feider hair jig rod with AGS, but then I realized it probably wasn’t competing on the same ground as a Conquest. I’m really fond of that Feider rod (I own 2), but how much better is the Steez AGS 76MML? I ask because when I bought the Feider, I was really seriously considering the Steez, but my local dealer didn’t stock it. I thought maybe I’d gotten lucky—the Feider rod does a lot of finesse things really well, and it’s damn sensitive with the AGS—but you are the second person I’ve seen use the word “magic” in association with the Steez. Tell me what I’m missing.

I'm curious too.

I've got over 100 rods, and only one rod out of these, and every rod I have ever held or used in 40 years deserves that term... Just one. All others pale in comparison. My 'magical' rod was made in USA just outside Houston by a very special rod factory builder and blank builder. He did something 30 years ago no one has been able to duplicate to this day. And it deals with resonance...

So like you, I am curious to hear what deserves this term "magic."

Are you stalking BronzeFly? :big grin:

Gary's not the only person who thinks this rod is magic: https://youtu.be/vAZrcSGxYUo

It's certainly one of the most versatile spinning rods I've tried. If I did more bank beating/bass boat fishing as opposed to kayak fishing...I would've acquired a 7'6mml a long time ago.

How many guides (including tip-top) does the Steez AGS 76MML have? (By an owner's actual count; I seem to recall a discrepancy between the number in the specs of an AGS rod vs. the number in that actual rod as produced. Could be wrong.)

Thank you guys for suggestions. I'm interested in 7'6" steez or flyssa. Did someone fish both? Any thoughts regardles action, sensitivity?
