The tail rips off fast if you are fishing for toothy fish.

If you aren't fishing for toothy fish, it flat out catches fish, and usually retains it's tail. Great for bedding fish, bouncing over rockpiles. I even use the 1oz as a straight retrive swimbait with good results. Casts a rice field kilometer. Skips further than a teenage girl on the way to Dom's house to get his credit card.

Re: MB Dark Sleeper
I just picked up a couple of the 2.4" thinking they'd be great for fishing bass and bluegill beds. The plastic seems pretty durable to me. Nice MB detail and a sharp hook should make this one a winner for dragging across the bottom. I don't know how well the dorsal fin will protect the hook point from snags and we don't even have sculpin around here, but they do look kind of like a catfish.
This is the way.

Here is a piece that recently did for Ned Kehde. It is an always rigged offering for me nowadays so much so that I have a rod coming specifically for it.

I was in the market for a similar rod before MB announced the new destroyers. I ended up with the Conquest 842S for bottom contact techniques. I'll be curious to see how you like the brigand.
I went to WVU years ago (2008 grad) so had some experience fishing lakes around the campus (mostly cheat lake). Do you fish the new river at all? I always wanted to make it down there but never did.

I grew up between Oneida and Cayuga in upstate NY. When my wife and I decided to build a log home thirteen years ago in the woods it had to be on a smallmouth river out of New Yorks snow belt where we could fish year round. Yes sir I'm familiar with the New and all of the smallmouth rivers in the panhandle are nearby but prefer more remote waters. Sorry to derail gents.

Catches fish, besides largies and smalies, I've cought a few walleye and pike on them too. The eyes come off after a few toothy guys hit it.
