I’d post a meme, but it’s too complicated.
Ok, thanks, bye.

Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
On the water today for the first time with the reel (for around 3h).
This is a initial review, I will give additional feedback after a couple of months of fishing.
I have spooled the reel with 16 # fluro FX Sniper. The reel is mounted on the Daiwa Steez SVF-XBD Frog Rod that I use for heavy jigs and medium paddle tail swimbaits.
I LOVE THIS REEL!
#1 Probably smoothest reel I own! Smoother than my Antares DC MD, Conquest 101 HG/ 401 and even a bit smoother than my Steez SV TW!!!
#2 It is a casting machine. Was able to bomb cast a 1oz with big trailer at least 60 yards completely effortlessly (which is not that easy with a XHeavy rod). I was originally concerned that the spool was not able to hold enough line. I think I was able to spool 80 yards of 16 pound fluro on it. So, it is enough!
#3 It is just an amazing looking reel (much better than the Steez SV TW and also the Steez A in my opinion) and looks very sexy on the Steez rod!
Summary: Awesome reel for heavier duty techniques! Not a finesse reel (maybe with a Steez spool).

^ Thank you for the review! I am getting more and more tempted. Do you have the SH or XH?

What is the spool weight? The shallower spool makes me think finesse capable, unless the Mag-Z is very stiff...

That stock spool is a pretty deep spool. See above where owner estimates 16#/80yds. It is deeper than the previous Morethan by a good stretch, 200 meters of 1.5 PE compared to 150 meter of 1.5 PE in a narrower spool. No reason to believe that it is any lighter than the existing 1016 Mag Z G1 spools.DirtyD64 wrote:What is the spool weight? As stock I think your ability to cast anything well in the the 5-7 gram range is going to be mostly dependant on the rod you are using.
Nice thing is you can throw in a variety of BFS spools (Rays, Megabass IS) with a BFS sideplate bearing and cast as low as you want to go with the right rod.
or
As stock you can load it with 1.5 PE put it on a 10ft. Morethan Casting Rod and bomb 25-35 gram lures 75+ yards from the beach
Any pretty much anything in between..

My experience has been the same. Just been giving it time to be sure. While I can’t say with certainty that it’s smoother than my steez sv tw because they feel so different (magnesium vs. aluminum), it’s certainly as smooth. Could be though. Certainly no trade off smoothness for the heavier duty gears as someone mentioned. If anything best of both worlds. As far as casting, I have not explored the lower limits of lure weight. I’m power fishing in Florida right now and finesse is not on my mind. The reel casts incredibly well. Machine like bombing. 1/4 oz probably lower limit for longer casts. Great combination of control and distance with everything above. Capacity was never an issue for me; it’s basically 1016 capacity.

Caught a nice 4.9 pound on a 1oz Jig today. The reel handled the fish beautifully!
Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
I had to have one. It looks so solid plus that 8.6:1 ratio and bronze gear. Sounds like frog or punching heaven. Went to buy two but only one in stock in lefty so I grabbed it. Can’t wait.
Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
Would anyone be interested in a spool from a Morethan PE TW??? Seems like that part would be the only thing keeping me from purchasing a reel like that. A color coded ZPI or G1 1012 would make it the perfect reel...

You might be surprised with how well the PE spool casts. I have least experience with it using fluro; mostly braid and big game. It casts all line types I’ve tried very well. I’m also running PG spools in a zillion sv tv and td-z and while it’s different, there isn’t a massive drop off when I pick up the morethan with PE spool. It’s possible that I’m not exploring the limits of the PG spools and I’m not casting micro jigs.
