New 2018 Power Pro

Super Slick V2

Image

SuperSlick, the smoothest, softest, longest casting PowerPro ever has been re-engineered for a whole new level of toughness. Combining a new 8-end, dense weave construction with the proven EBT coating process, SSV2 now delivers all of the smooth, silent benefits that anglers love about the original SuperSlick, plus added abrasion toughness that provides the power to rip through the heaviest cover with the same force as traditional 4-end braids. Until now, 4-end braid equaled bumpy/noisy/tough and 8-end braid equaled smooth/silent/weak. SSV2 has changed the game so 8-ends now equals smooth/silent/tough. Available in traditional Blue, the popular Moss Green and now introducing Hi-Vis Aqua Green for the visibility minded angler, and Onyx for those looking to catch the monster Bass.

• Re-engineered for TOUGHNESS
• Smooth/Silent/Tough
• Dense weave construction with EBT coating

SSV2 cuts grass better than 4 carrier braided lines.

Does that mean it is more likely to cut guides as well like 4 carrier braid? I thought the roughness of 4 carrier is what makes it cut grass, because it is like a fine tooth saw.

Modern guides should have no issue with any braided line.

Thanks for including some extra small diameters with this new release!!! I enjoyed the original Super Slick in that timber brown color, just frayed a bit on me. I say that but it still never broke or lost me a fish. That being said, I will definitely give this second version a try in Onyx Black, either 8-10lb for spinning or 30-40lb casting. Has R&D proven the coating to be a bit more durable???

The line didn't really fray, it was due to how it was woven. The fibers would stick up looking like a fray. This line has a denser weave and solves a lot of the issues with original SS.

I apologize for that wording, fraying isn't the best way of putting that. I used some 40lb Timber brown till it looked awful, saved it for backing and recently used it. Was messing around at work and showed someone how it would still lift big ole chunks of wood even after years of use. But again, fraying was a bad word to use, it just seemed a bit unraveled in spots though casting wasn't affected (I already mentioned it didn't affect strength).

It depends on the hardness of the stainless and how well they have been polished.

Thanks for the info.
Since there's no easy way to know the hardness of the steel, I'll keep telling my cheapskate buddy to give his guides a regular Q-tip check until he gets a decent rod by Shimano :-({|= ! Sounds good to you?
