did he say what the do use?Revofisher wrote:I just pulled the trigger on the 7’3” hvy moderate action today. I did a phone order and Trey picked the phone up and took my order which was cool. He did mention the 5 power rods do not use the micro guides.

sadly i cant recall what he called them. Im wanting to say semi conventional? so not full size guides but the step below that in size im thinking. it should be here weds so ill know for sure then.
Re: 2019 kistler z bones in stock
thanks, my kistlers of old have something that I think bigger then true micro. I don't recall those either.
Though I have to say, I don't get bigger guides on longer rods. Seems like longer rods would benefit most from lighter guides. Short rods not so much.
give us a report and pictures!

I think these guides are called semi-macro if I remember correctly?
Re: 2019 kistler z bones in stock
From Trey Kistler:
"We do use bigger than Micro guides we call Macro with the #5 rings for 1-4 powers and #6 rings for the 5H power rods"

I picked up a 7'3" heavy. Mine should be delivered on the 5th.

If its 3,4oz with those long cork grips and #5 guides, what would it weight with smaller carbon grips and REAL titanium micro guides (size #3)..

should be a sweet rod. I look forward to getting a report on the action of the blank. Not having it listed as a xfast might be a help if fishing braided line

The difference in a size 5 stainless guide, and size 3 titanium guide isn't like earth shattering or anything. Size 3 running guides are simply too small for most practical anglers. I prefer size 5 or 5.5 for ease of operation and simplicity. Not to big or small imo. I don't understand why more rod manufacturers don't utilize Fuji Titanium framed alconites. Bang for buck in every direction. Plus if Kistler used titanium SIC or Torzites, they'd jack the price up even more. These rods are already rather pricey. I also thought Kistler used a mix of Fuji and Kigan in their guide layouts. Have they switched for the new Zs?MardukFIN wrote: If its 3,4oz with those long cork grips and #5 guides, what would it weight with smaller carbon grips and REAL titanium micro guides (size #3)..

True. Just weighted 8x #3 titanium runners versus 8x #5 ss guides. There was 0,3g difference
Carbon grips vs cork makes more difference.

Re: 2019 kistler z bones in stock
so i got a few hours in with the z bone 7'3" 5 power hvy moderate action today tossing around some baits on the bank to see what it was all about even caught two fish on the test run. So as i first held the rod it felt just a tad tip hvy but as soon as i mounted a reel on the rod it was great. I do not have scales so i cant get the weight, but the rod is pretty light for a 5 power. The action of the rod kind of reminds me of the megabass fmj 6 power just a little bit more moderate bend throughout the blank when loaded up. i threw a 5/8 oz swim jig, 3/8 oz football jig, and a 1oz tungsten weight with a missle d bomb for the bait. it handled all the baits really well that i threw. 3/8 is probably the lowest i would go with this model however. I put a daiwa sv 103xs with 55lb sunline flipping frogging braid on the rod. tomorrow im going to put a lighter reel on it with fluro to see what it looks like. The rod has great power and the mod action model is awesome with braid no doubt. Im curious about the sensitivity with flurocarbon because it was super sensitive with braid one of the most sensitive rods ive used. I still cant define is it trumps nrx sensitivity will need a lot more time on that matter. Over its a great rod thats pretty versatile and the sensitivity is there for sure.

I’m stuck in the boat with you Cristo I’ve always been a Loomis guy still am and the last two years has been many Megabass purchases and they have their stay in the quiver for sure. In all honesty it was hard for me to get the rod lol. I’m glad I got one it’s a great rod no doubt. If I was a serious tournament guy I would get more of these for sure but the enthusiasm will still keep the Megabass around
Re: 2019 kistler z bones in stock
I am a big Megabass user myself. I wanted to try something different even though I love megabass. My Z bone just arrived today. I am going to take it out tomorrow. Hopefully I like it as much as my Megabass, but my wife and my wallet secretly hope I do not like them that much.
