Post by Normware » Wed May 02, 2018 11:39 am

Anyone have or had the chance to use either the

Shimano Expride A Spinning Rod 8'6" Med Lt 2-Piece or St Croix Legend Tournament 8'6" medium Lt xfast rods for drop shots or spybaits?

I fished the 8’6” expride spinning yesterday. Definitely an interesting rod. The length makes it feel like a much bigger more stout rod….. much different than a traditional drop shot rod [I have the 6’10” NRX as well]….closer to the 8’2” Greenwater that I used to have though crisper.

I purchased it for casting a spooky fish that are far away like baby tarpon or permit and think it will be well suited for that. I paired it with a 4000 Exsense…..given the length I wouldn’t suggest pairing it with less than a 4K size to counter balance the length. Tight lines

Thanks for the reply. I almost pulled the trigger one this past weekend. I have no 4000 series reels so I think I will hold off for a bit.
