Which Steez for chucking and winding, which for flip n pitch?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Which Steez for chucking and winding, which for flip n pitch?

Post by leggomye990 » Thu Mar 08, 2018 5:36 pm

Hey guys, between the Steez A TW and Steez SVTW reels, which one would be better suited for cranking/movingbaits and which one is better suited for jigs flipping and pitching?

Not sure to get a steez A 6.3 for the cranks and a SVTW 7.1 for flipping and pitching? Or would it be other way around?
Get 2 steez A or 2 steez SVTW?!?!?!?! :-k :-k :-k

I have both reels (6.3 for Steez A and 7.1 for Steez SV TWS).

For Flipping in coverI would go with a 8.1 JDM Steez A. Better and cheaper: consider a Zillion HD or a SV10XS.

For cranking you can probably use a Steez A 6.3:1 - I was thinking of testing my Steez A as well for cranks. A slower gear ratio is probably still better for deep diving cranks.

If you are willing to spend this kind of money consider this:

Flipping:

* Steez A 8:1
* Bantam MGL 8:1

Cranking:

* Conquest 100/ 200
* Daiwa Ryoga 2018

Cheers!

Yah, I think Im going to end up with 2 Steez A.
6.3 for my shallow/mid cranks
7.2 for flip/pitch

I wanted to include the SVTW but they cost 100$ more than a steez A. :crying:

WHy are you so fixed on the Steez A? The reel is a great all around reel, but for your dedicated use cases there are better options out there.

Just a fan of the Steez, have a couple older ones and now I want the latest ones.

I thought the Steez A reels were getting questionable reviews, seem to have gotten better. I am especially interested now because I found out they will hold the G1 SV Zillion TW spool in case you need to chunk lighter lures.

If you aren't fishing saltwater though I don't see why the SV TW Steez couldn't handle cranking fine... The 6.3 ratio, especially if you get a bit longer handle (no idea why they went with an 80mm for a flagship reel) should handle any of it just fine.

Yah, earlier on I didnt really care too much for the steez A and was originally just wanting to pick up a steez sv tws and grab another zillion for my crank rod set up, but for some reason the steez a started to grow on me lol I messed around with one in a store and actually liked how it felt despite ppl saying its too wide from the tws

Get the new Steez CC 5.3 model for cranking and the Steez SV or the Steez A for flipping. I have the Steez A and love it for flipping.
