Metanium DC - maintenance
Hello,
What basic maintenance do I have to do on a 15 Metanium DC?
Do I have to lube with oil the bearing of the spool on e period of time? Other bearings?
Tks

Do the spool bearings only, soak them in acetone and lube (one drop) with oil you like.
Maintenance in general, all depends, I usually do my reels once in two years completely taking them apart.

Re: Metanium DC - maintenance
The 4 biggest things you can do to extend the life of your reels is
1) try to keep it as clean as possible. wipe it down, keep it out of the elements when not in use.
2) keep the level wind lubed. I prefer grease for this, as it helps catch any debris and floats it up in the grease instead of allowing it to settle into the worm gear like oil does
3)flush and oil the bearings. preferably 2 time a year, but once will be fine on flushing them. oil them every few trips. just one drop is more than enough to last a few trips.
4)grease the gears. the gears in the metanium can and will become loud and "geary feeling" if they run dry. once is all it takes to ruin them.

Met DC doesnt have a bearing at levewind...
Do you know if it is necessary to ad bearing(s) at the levewind? Or the question is if it has place there to ad one?

don't worry about adding any additional bearings. The factory knows what it's doing.

They don't add them to keep the price point down. A bearing is better than a bushing in EVERY instance EXCEPT saltwater use.

Re: Metanium DC - maintenance
Just look at the schematic... there is no bearing on the levelwind nor is there a bushing to replace. So no, you cannot add a bearing or two to the levelwind.Ovidiu-Andrei wrote:So,
