Well damn, but you did just sell a second Chronarch MGL, XG this time. That statement alone probably has me pulling the trigger. Really wanna wait for a Bantam though...Bantam1 wrote:No changes to Curado 70.

Are the side plates aluminum also?
What finish does this reel have, is it painted or bare aluminum?

Bantam, what is the body and rotor material of the Stella FJ? Still magnesium? Aluminum?
Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL
Incredible info Bantam thanks for the write up on these reels.

Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL
Still trying to find out here if the Bantam has the same bearing count as the Chronarch MGL, or Shimano removed one on the main shaft. I am hoping it has dual main shaft/gear support though. Not sure about Silent Tune, seems interesting.
Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL
The Bantam uses all aluminum for the side plate, frame and brake case housing. Think Conquest but in a low profile body. That is what Bantam is. A solid and highly durable reel designed for hard use applications.
I am waiting on the info for Stella as far as materials used for construction. I suspect it is magnesium and aluminum, but I will confirm once I have the answer.
I do not have a schematic for Bantam yet. I took one apart to see how it was built but did not check every bearing location. We will not be shipping the reels until March. Probably around the Bassmaster Classic time frame.

Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL
Thanks brothern. I found that on the Japanese sight it lists 9 bearings, US lists 8. I figure it has dual shaft, pinion, and spool support along with a roller bearing. Those are the most important locations, I tried explaining this to a friend mad that his 11 bearing Lew's felt nothing like his new Curado K. Keybearing location is way more important than bearing count.Bantam1 wrote:The Bantam uses all aluminum for the side plate, frame and brake case housing. Think Conquest but in a low profile body. 8+1 bearing count for Bantam. I think Stella is 12+1.
We will not be offering a shallow spool for Bantam. Considering the reel is a hard use type reel, we gave it a deeper spool for the customers that still use mono/FC instead of braided line.

Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL
@Bantam1: Do you know anything about the spool weight and the right line capacity (because on the japanese homepage is written 100m/16lb or 100m/0,36mm - a typically line capacity of a 200er reel) of the Bantam MGL?

Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL
I noticed this also. It is listed some places as being the same capacity as the Chronarch MGL, but other places it seems to be a bit deeper spooled reel. Really hope as small as it is that its about the same (if not lighter than) the Chronarch MGL's spool...-Boris- wrote:@Bantam1: Do you know anything about the spool weight and the right line capacity (because on the japanese homepage is written 100m/16lb or 100m/0,36mm - a typically line capacity of a 200er reel) of the Bantam MGL?
Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL
I do not know the weight. I do not have an MGL here to weight the spool. It should be similar in weight to the Metanium MGL spool. Line capacity is shown on our website for those of you are willing to take the time and look at it.
mono: 10/120,12/110,14/90
Power Pro: 20/150,30/135,40/105
Same capacity as Metanium 150MGL, Chronarch 150 MGL...We have standardized the line capacity on our reel sizes. 150 will be the same on any reel listed as 150. 200, 300, 400, etc will be the same no matter what model reel they are in. For example Tranx 400 will hold the same amount of line as a Calcutta 400D. There is no industry spec for the spool sizes. We chose to standardize internally.
With the Stella all the JDM versions will have shallow spools. Ours will have the standard capacity spools.
