2018 shimano leaks

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

What about a new Scorpion 200 series?

s(K)orpion 200. I haven't ever understood why they rename for the JDM market...

Correction: Well I translated like crazy, and found out a bit. It will (should) have aluminum sideplates and frame from what the author said. Will be priced right around $350, so between the Chronarch and Metanium. It should also weigh around 7.5oz which is heavier, but not too terrible. Couldn't find if the Micro Module is brass or aluminum though. Would really be interested in this reel, wish it was closer to $325 though or maybe a tad less.
Looks like a metanium suffered a few bee stings on it's lower lip :) or got some botox

Interesting how the frame is cast throughout.
Looks like a sturdy design.

I'm excited, just hope the price tag isn't ONE MILLION dollars. I will buy a $300 reel if I can find a sale, even though my fiancé bought me a Zillion TWS 9.1 for the full $300 when they came out, hard to believe a JDM Metanium can be had for $20 less than that. I want that Bantam, just wish its spool was smaller.
An Aldebaran 30 MGL (even if it has Micro Module and extra driveshaft bearing) would be awesome, just cannot get over a THIRTY size, already pretty low capacity. I cast a bunch on 8lb P-line Halo off my SV105 with a 1/4 dropshot weight, couldn't imagine casting a 3/8 on an Aldebaran 30.

Thanks for the link. I already watch all REEL TEST stuff. Helped persuade me to try the Chronarch MGL.

I'm not sure why shimano is coming out with a 30 size alde that is gonna to put it close to the 16 alde bfs. What we needed is a 5oz mgl alde XG with micro module, x ship, mgl spool, frame size of a core 50mg with spool capacity around 12/100. That would be a hit IMO! That would fit perfectly between the alde 50mg and met mgl

Yeah, the 30 size seems to be a little close to BFS. I mean I would and could find a use for one, but that is right on the line of being a bit shallow for me. I would have rather a Curado MGL, with about a $250 price tag, same capacity, same frame, new look, and an extra main shaft bearing. Still going to be an interesting year though.

That’s what the curado k is. It has the extra drive shaft bearing too.
