Ultimate Lure Saver split rings?

Post by eyra_kid » Fri Oct 27, 2017 9:26 am

I've seen a lot of references to them in past TT lure reviews. Never tried them, and it seems they are discontinued.
Is there anything similar out there?

I'd say most any cheap gonna bend out if you look at it too hard ring would do the same. Don't mean to come across brash, but last I checked one cannot bring in a fish if hooks pull off on retrieve. Maybe best to simply straightening hook instead? It's certainly cheaper. Hooks cost much more than rings.

As I understand, they won't straighten out unless it's a straight line pull. The rod action keeps from pulling free on a fish. I just have a special situation I think they would work and save me some $10 baits.

Run away. Run away fast.

After I lost my second 6lb+ large mouth using these things several years ago, I bailed. They will pull out with decent sized fish, even if you are using the appropriate rated ring.

Appreciate the feedback. I wouldn't use them on any of my bass gear. I am looking for a small number for one bait, one situation for catching walleye. They are netted, so not real concerned about losing fish. Fishing with 10lb braid.
