Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

Fished today with mine. 904c with a Metanium MGL and 15# Tatsu. Caught 16 Spots tonight,biggest around 3. 3/16 shakeyhead with trick worm. Little overkill,got it for t-rig and jigs,but couldn’t resist fishing with it today. Wicked sensitive,can’t wait to go to Chickamauga this weekend!

Nice! What is the power compared to, is the 4 power conquest compared to a 4 power NRX?

This might be very important. You will want to clarify the warranty. I assumed it would have a limited lifetime warranty like other G. Loomis rods. My tackle shop says it only has a one year warranty (like Shimano rods). I sold my NRX for one of these and now I wished I hadn’t. There is no way I am buying a $650 rod and only getting a one year warranty.

Warranty is on the rod handle. It is not one year.

If it makes it a year, anything that happens to it is operator error.

True on blanks, but guides, bindings, reel seats/glue are different IMO.
Also a function how often a rod is fished re: the above.

Did loomis come through for us on balance with the 904? I've wanted a 904 mbr glx for a long time, and I'll shell out for a conquest if the balance is there.

My 904 with a Metanium mgl balances about a quarter inch forward of the hook keeper. My NRX 894 balances maybe a quarter inch further forward with same reel.

Im loving my 782 and 842 so far. Really like the MBR tapers, will be buying more for sure. Hard for me to describe the differences in hand, but these rods are definitely a step up from NRX.

Do you own the 782c? Or sjr? I'm looking for more info on the 782c. What do they weigh?

Both are casting. 782c for topwater, and 842c for jerkbaits. No idea on weights, but the 842 feels lighter in hand than my 842 NRX which weighs 106g. I like split grips, and wish the 2 power rods came with split grips for more weight savings. Can't say I've ever had a balance issue with a medium power rod 7' and below.

I'll agree to a point..... though most people that are trying to make a "warranty" claim, aren't doing it for something "warranty" related.... That's the only point I was making. Bindings and glue, yes, but guides, I'd argue to be mostly operator error as well.

I did order a 843c Conquest and have fished with it a little so far. It is taking some getting used to. I fished a jig for so long on my NRX, I was used to the way it fished. The taper on the Conquest is slower and softer than the NRX 853c I had before. The Conquest is sensitive, but it just feels different. I don’t know how to explain it, but the Tackle Tour review sort of indicated that. It is noticeably lighter, balances better and is more comfortable to fish with. The guides aren’t as noisy with braid (no recoils) and it casts very well. I suspect that once I get used to, I will really like it. Although it is primarily my jig and worm rod, I should be able to use it for a lot more techniques. I hope that helps.

It's good, not "perfect" or "neutral" but it's what I'd call good. I've been fishing the Conquest 903 and 904, on deck with the 893 and 894 NRX a little bit, more time on the water to come. So far so good, and I have been a MBR action fan for a very long time. I'm looking forward to the 905 as well...
