8ft or longer swimbait rod with a detachable handle

Post by bigturtle » Thu Nov 09, 2017 9:46 pm

What are other rods like the Orochi XX Leviathan that's 8ft or longer, with a detachable handle, and can handle swimbaits up to 5~6oz.

Custom.

I did my cranking rod as a 2 piece. Comes in at 9'3".

I wasn't going for points in the cosmetic department but, i took the handle to a broken rod and I inserted it into a Legend Glass blank. I wrapped some thread on the butt of the blank and ensured a tight fit by expoying around the handle portion that goes into the blank. I tight fit is essential to prevent too much pressure on one point on the blank.

It kinda "changes" the taper of the blank, seeing how you are using more of the blank ahead of the handle.

Here is a video of the rod:

swimbait rod for swimbaits.

I'm not looking for a glass rod.

I was just using the rod as an example for creating a 2 piece rod. The Legend Glass is sweet for cranks but, would not be on my radar for a swimbait rod.

You could get a decent MHX blank and create a handle in a similar fashion to the video.

I imagine that there will be big rods coming out. Maybe some rods will come up near the Classic.
