Vanquish 12 auto switch to reverse?
So hears my recent problem. When reeling, my 2012 Vanquish randomly allows reverse mode to be active for a few cranks then it locks and allows the normal forward reeling motion to resume. Keep in mind all this happens without ever flipping the reverse switch. Mostly this happens when I get a snag and administer the bow technique to loosen the hook from rock or randomly when I'm fighting in a fish. It seems something internally is not not locking correct and comes loose every now and then when triggered. What more do you know about this? Thanks!

The anti reverse bearing is failing and is in need of replacement. We did not offer this model in the US, so I am unsure what the US part number would be for the bearing.

And the official name is called a "anti-reverse bearing?" I'm almost confident other American market offered Shimano spinning reels anti-reverse bearing should fit. Certain reel part can always fit certain reels. If that's the case then I'd love to buy. I would be greatly appreciative if you ask around and confirm with with me on this.Bantam1 wrote:The anti reverse bearing is failing and is in need of replacement. Anti reverse bearing or roller bearing are the terms used. We would have to match it up since we did not offer this in the US. It could be similar to the one used in the Stella, or it could be similar to what was used in the Sustain, or it could it's own bearing. I would also need the size of the Vanquish to ask.

First just disassemble your reel.
Clean the anti-reverse bearing with wd-40 contact cleaner.
Spray it in the AR bearing while you put the AR sleeve in and turn it in its normal
position
That would solve the problem because sometime the grease just invaded the bearing.
After cleaning just put one or two drops of bantam oil in.
Remember do not use grease.
If the problem still persists.
Just order Stella fe ar bearing .
It will fit just fine.

WD-40 can cause the bearing to slip as well.
For the amount of time it will take to open the reel and remove the bearing, I would just replace it. Cheap insurance and the new bearing will not slip. Do not add any oil/grease to the new bearing.

I'm having a hard time finding the right bearing that would work. Can you give me the item number or possible item numbers from various US reel models that would work? Thank you Bantam!Bantam1 wrote:WD-40 can cause the bearing to slip as well.

What size Vanquish do you have? All you have stated is that it is a 2012 model.

You might need to use the inner tube portion from your bearing in the new bearing. Check to see if they are different before installing the bearing.
