Line doesn't enter line roller slit? Stradic fk 1000hg.

Post by BEST79 » Mon Sep 04, 2017 4:25 am

Hello guys!

Now I have an annoying problem.

My stradic fk ,when I use it,the line almost always gets out of track.

It will always pops off the slit and rubs against plastic part.

I have to pull the line back into its place all the time with my hand.(close the bail manually and place the line in the roller slit again.)

Like in these pictures.

Does anyone has this problem like me?

Is there any way to fix it?

I tried tighten the line roller screw properly and my line roller runs smoothly.

Just the line doesn't run in the slit. And damages the plastic part.

I thank you for information in advance.

What kind of rod is your reel on and what size braid is that?

I had this happen on an old junker Abu reel (walmart special) and there was a groove drawing the line over. Unfortunately I cannot help with that case because it quit doing it on its own for some reason. Have you disassembled that area?

Thank you for the information.

My set up is majorcraft crostage 7'3'' line weight 2-5 lb.

Line is fake powerpro 0.12 mm.(I knew after I used it several times that it was fake one, unlucky me.)

Lure that I use are small jerkbaits like Duo toto, spearhead ryuki, not exceed 5 grams., and some small jigheads 0.5-2.0 grams for light rock fish.

This issue happened for a while, since I paired the stradic with Rapala Kevyt 6' 2-5 lb.

But on that time I use 6 lb. mono, so the line didn't cut the plastic part.

then I spooled it with braid for light rock fish, so the issue got worse.

This issue happened since the reel was new in box.

before I disassembled the line roller components. Relubed it.

And I reassembled it correctly but nothing gets better.

I'm not sure on this one, been reading around a bit and most people claim it is something loose or due to tolerances being off. A few also claimed super thin lines can cause what issue you are experiencing. I will keep reading and try and figure it out.

I bet the bail wire is bent. Try bending it so that the bail angle to the roller is slightly sloping toward the roller. If the plastic is grooved though, you might need to replace it as it will probably continue to catch. Fishing very light, low resistance baits requires an extra level of attention and line management skills. A one piece bail helps to eliminate the gaps and potential sticking points, but you still need to pay extra attention.

I suspect the bail wire is bent out of shape. This will cause the line to feed incorrectly into the line roller. Or someone took the line roller apart and installed it backwards. This can also cause the issue you are having.

After I got information, I tried bending the bail wire back like your suggestion.

But I found it's getting worse.

I compared all the spinning reels I have , a cardiff ci4+, stradic ci4+, stradic FJ.

I found all the arm cam angles to the spools are at least 90 degrees or more than that.

Image

But for the stradic FK is less than 90 dregrees.

Image

After inspection I noticed that the key that determines the angle is arm cam itself.

The small protuding of the arm cam that contacts with the roter arm determines the angle.

For the stradic FK arm cam gets lower than other models since the arm cam makes less than 90 degrees angle to the spool.

Image

The spring push the arm cam in the direction of yellow arrow.

I tried pulling the line in many angles of arm cam and noticed the more degrees arm cam does to the spool, the easier line gets into the slit.

But I tried bendind the wire, so something happened.

the bail side, the line roller , the arm cam edge are not parallel any more, as described in this picture.

Image

As you can see the green lines before I bent the wire, it parallel with the red line.

But after I bend it , it lost the allignment.

So I think the problem is the design not the bending wire.

Because many stradic users in my country expirienced same problems like mine. At least more than 8 cases have been discussed.

The way to solve this problems for them is to sale them out.

Unlucky for the one who purchases those secondhand reels.

You can send the reel in for repair. Are you located in the US?

The line lay on your spool is abysmal too. I suspect you have bigger issues with the reel.

Thank you, sir. For all the replies.

I live in Thailand. No such a good aftersale service here.

There is an office in Singapore. I realize that is far from you, but I would contact them and see if they can offer some assistance. The other option is to send the reel to the Japan office for repair.

Thanks for all your replies.

After I talked with my local fishing friends.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/7959272 ... 092347543/

There are many anglers experienced problems like mine.

Many of them told me to reassemble the line roller to the opposite way.

Many of theme just sold it away.

There was a reel that line roller is severely damaged as in the picture.

I wonder how can he continue using the reel like that. LOL!

And this problem even happened on twinpower 2015 c3000 and c3000HG.

And even Stella FI!

So , I am the big fan of Shimano. I do not intend to discredit your company.

Just to send a feedback so on the next generation reel this problem maybe, would be solved.

Thank you.
