Constant New Models Being Released by Manufacturers

Post by DarkShadow » Mon Jul 17, 2017 10:12 am

Anybody have a graph chart of how many times different manufacturers have brought new models or new versions of same models to market and if that has increased year by year? Because it sure seems it has.

And has anybody else been turned off from high end purchases because of the advent of new releases year after year, almost as if manufacturers change something minor in order to illicit the purchase of gear by individuals who are brand loyal and are accustomed to having the latest offerings?

(Kinda reminds me of Major League Baseball now having 15 different 'official on the field caps like the pro's wear' when 10 years ago, you had maybe a pair. Now you have the All Star cap, the Memorial Day cap, the Forth of July cap.....the official batting practice hat!....)

Agree with both posts. The big downside is that spare parts rapidly become unobtainable, so perfectly good reels are hard to maintain.

Manufactures have been doing this for a long time. I can remember back in the 90s shimano changed the stradic and curado every few years. Watch the beginning of this video.

Isn't it funny that in the advert for the new I Curado, they slowly went through the series and showed the G series... the new K series, they flew through them and omitted the G completely.

Parts can and I honestly believe are being thinned put to push new products.

It's like when someone asked Gary Yamamoto to make his senkos more durable. His reply was "Buy more baits."

This is the way.

Wouldnt have to buy parts if they made them like they used to, and people maintained them the right way.
