Concept Z bearings
If these "bearings" are legit, do the Concept bearing sizes match those from other manufacturers, so they can be swapped out?

Re: Concept Z bearings
Not sure anyone but the manufacturer knows at this stage mate, here's hoping that a) they're the goods and b)they come in standard metric sizes to suit other reels.

I am looking forward to the extra 100 yards they add to my cast

Re: Concept Z bearings
I was hoping more for longer periods between service/lubrication. I am not concerned with longer casts at this point.Cristo wrote:I am looking forward to the extra 100 yards they add to my cast
Re: Concept Z bearings
How can a no bearing reel cast further than a reel with quality ceramic hybrids? Not only are they saying that it casts further, but also easier. I just don't believe that one bit. Sounds like PR bs. No way in hell shimano/daiwa wouldn't be using these for a while if they were as good as 13fishing claims.
If i am wrong and they're better, i'd be as surprised as i've been when it comes to fishing.

Re: Concept Z bearings
"Regular" 13 Fishing bearing size is same as Shimano sideplate is. Spool bearing doesnt fit, cause id is larger.

Re: Concept Z bearings
Bought a Bantam 50 last week, it too is a bearingless reel (35 years young), bushings are being swapped out as it casts like a near 40 year old reel with tech that matches its casting performance.
I really want to see the "durability" of plastic polymer bushings in the hands of the public.

Re: Concept Z bearings
I have a Concept A I use on a travel rod I take hiking and on work trips. I am very interested in the Z bearings if they really will remove a point of failure from a reel that has a pretty tough life.

Re: Concept Z bearings
I'm getting into fly fishing and this article
https://www.yellowstoneangler.com/gear- ... air-sage-x
Says this reel
http://galvanflyreels.com/product/torque/
Uses self lubricating bushings instead of bearings called
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rulon_(plastic)
Made by this company
http://www.tstar.com/rulon
God I want to try one, I don't think it'll be as amazing as they claim, or will somehow not stand the test of time, but if they ARE that good, I just wanna CAST THE DAMN THING. Skeptical or not, what they are claiming is next gen, step forward tech for the reel market. It could surely revitalize what maybe some of us thought was a fully developed reel tech market! Or maybe it's SHYTE. Doesn't matter. Wanna try wanna try wanna try.
BTW guys, if you feel the monkey weakening, there is plenty of sexy tackle to look at over there on the 1:1 side. Trust me.

Re: Concept Z bearings
I think you may have hit the nail on the head. They might not be using that exact material or company but it sounds like it might be a match. Their "Rulon J" bearings they seem to be touting as extremely low friction, self lubricating and near-zero water absorption. All of which you would want for a reel bearing, and seem to echo what 13 has been hinting at. If that IS what they are using though, looks like we finally know what they are made of....glass reinforced PTFE.BucketHunter wrote:I'm getting into fly fishing and this article

I'm not even on the fence here, but I am peeking over it. Does anyone know how to interpret either of these charts?
