Goodbye Gander Mountain
Goodbye Gander Mountain
Gander Mountain just announced the bankruptcy liquidation of all its in-store inventory. Don't know what sorts of deals you can get online.
Re: Goodbye Gander Mountain
no deals online, they're not selling anything online and in store the fishing was only 15% of the already high prices. at least that's what i saw friday at the Gastonia, NC location....

Same here in Waukesha, WI. I went specifically to buy some Missile Baits Ike's mini flip jigs and they had raised the price from earlier in the year, so it looks like they were offsetting the 15% off.
Re: Goodbye Gander Mountain
I stopped by one store by my house and found a Shimano Sahara 2500FD (4-5 year old model?) looked like an used one which was returned. They put a yellow sticker price for $79.99 with 20% discount. I was laughing on the way to get out of that store.

When these kind of things happen, they usually higher a liquidation firm to handle the sale. Whoever they are using is trying to pick up the dummy dollars first.

Looks like it's not gone totally...it will become Gander Outdoors and feature hunting, fishing, camping, and RVing...just no clothing or footwear. At least 70 stores will stay open from the latest email sent out.

Gander will be missed, one of my favorite stores for finding good deals on lures. I just bought 4 curado's for $100 each at their going out of business sale.

I have read about the same.Big-Bass wrote:Looks like it's not gone totally...it will become Gander Outdoors and feature hunting, fishing, camping, and RVing...just no clothing or footwear. At least 70 stores will stay open from the latest email sent out.
Re: Goodbye Gander Mountain

Depends on where you live, here in Pa lures are 30%-40% off.

Re: Goodbye Gander Mountain
Gander did business in odd ways. I recall several years ago when I was shore fishing in the Charlotte area. I broke a spinning rod, a $100 Shimano model of some kind that I don't recall exactly. I went to Gander, and they were on sale for $49. I was buying one, but when I went thru the checkout, it rang up at $19.95. Wow!
I went back and bought two more that I later sold making a few bucks.in
I opened an account with them, but they never sent me any e-mail sales announcements, or postal fliers.

Re: Goodbye Gander Mountain
I always loathed gander mountain. It was really the only option in my area for hunting and fishing outerwear growing up. They would put two very similar named products on the same rack, the sign would read product gsx 89.99, when you would get to the checkout the cashier would ring you for 149.00 because it was product gsxc. On top of that the gear was always crap. I don't really think they are going out of business. I heard they are being bought out.. There will be another crappy and dishonest outdoor outlet in the same locations only with a different name.
