North Fork Composites

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

North Fork Composites

Post by timinmo » Sun Mar 26, 2017 5:21 am

NFC has just announced a half off sale. Must order thru their web site. If anyone is interested maybe a good time to stock up.

This is a killer deal if you can wrap your own rods. I got away from it for a couple years, but this sale is too good to pass up.

Have not heard of a bad review yet about the NFC blanks.

Gary Loomis makes nice stuff.
I used to have a great interview he did at his shop on Steelhead Stalkers that is apparently not on the web any longer. Drats.

Thanks for the post. I thought I was done purchasing blanks for the off season -- but after seeing this sale I ordered a a few more. I still need to order some parts to finish them -- but it would be wonderful if I could get them all put together before I start open-water fishing. At this point we still have over 2 feet of solid ice -- but the temperatures recently warmed up, and it will likely feel like a race between my building and the arrival of open-water fishing.

I'm excited at the thought of starting the season with 3 custom builds on North Fork blanks that I have never used before. I definitely have high expectations.

705? I was looking into building one for 1/4-1/2oz jerkbaits as well, and was thinking 704, but have no idea. I wish we could get some idea of power of these blanks, even the ratings are off everywhere I have looked. Guess a phone call is in order....

I'm not seeing any mention of the deal.

Is there a different website?

Hello, I'm a new member.

Do any of you know if NFC has these sales frequently? I missed out on the sale last July and regretted it.

I built my first rod three years ago and usually stick with the value blanks. If NFC rarely has sales I'll probably buy.

Mattman measured the MB705 HM. Only has 370 grams of power.
The MB664 HM has an ERN of 19.88
The MB705 HM has an ERN of 20.85
The jump is rather minimal

I was thinking the 704 also. sigh so many blanks so little time and money. The only blank I can tell you about is the ds 761 hm I made into a baitcaster which is a joy to fish and is my dropshot and flickshake deal.

I hope this isnt a sign of the times for the company? Gary is a pioneer of the industry and is a great person.

All blanks? Or just bass applications?
