My condolences. Thanks for sharing. I am sure your father was extremely encouraged.

Sorry about your dad. Thanks for posting, helps me remember I shouldn't take the time I have with my dad for granted. Praying for you.

I will send a prayer your way anytime I see your posts, which is often. I see my father's health sliding a little and I know what's coming eventually. I have to tie his knots now, his hands shake a little too much and his eyes won't cooperate. He rarely changes baits, even if he isn't catching anything. I guess that's the fierce self-reliance, coupled with a little pride. Like your father, my father instilled in me a love of fishing and a deep respect for all outdoors. Tournaments were the norm when I was coming up and we enjoyed every minute of it. Fishing and hunting is a way of life that he taught me well. I won't know what to do when that day comes for me, as I'm sure you feel at a loss at this moment. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know you miss him, but he will always be there in your heart and mind.

Stories like this help to strengthen my respect for my fellow fishermen.

I am sorry for the loss of your father, I can't begin to imagine what you must feel. My father is also my primary fishing partner, next to my wife. I look forward to every outing with him, as he too is getting up in age. I feel a sense of peace knowing that some of the best times I've shared with my dad have been on the water.

May your father rest in peace.
