What's the best braid for spinning reels? 4,6,8# mono equivalent.

I still like my pline tcb 8 a little more then the maxima, prob just because the pline is a little thinner and retains its color,
the pline seems to have a tighter braid.
The maxima is the most clean braid I have ever used, it loses its color fast but shows no signs of bleeding onto my equitment.
If maxima made 15lb I would be all over it...

If anyone can give me a braking strength on the 10lb maxima I might get some of that.

I like both braids, the only thing I don't like about the pline is the green flakes off a bit while braking the line
in, once its fished 2 to 3 times its amazing and very smooth.

I have no idea what the braking strength is on the pline 15lb but its damn strong for how thin it is, It feels way thinner
then most other 15lb braids.

OCD out.... :big grin:

Any chance you can test its strength out?

I like the way you think Good year 71 =D>

I may give it a shot :-k but this damn Suffix Performance braid (20) does not want to die, I've literally had the same line on like 5 or 6 different reels. I keep changing spinning reels throughout the years but this line has never broken once.

cons - Its a bit faded, i'll get a handful of wind knots in a season and its a bit noisy through recoil guides...

Good Year, what rating did you give PP Slick 8? I've been using it since it first came out and really haven't found a reason to stop. I tried the Walmart sold USA Braid and liked the 15lb, but the 30lb was super noisy. Would be a good line if abrasion is preferred in weeds I imagine.

Am I missing out by not trying the Maxima? Does it sink or float? Do Albright leader knots hold well with it?

Albright is all I use for leaders, maxima works excellent.

Cool. I will probably give it a shot next time I need some 30lb...might be a while as long as line lasts with my infrequent fishing schedule.

Really interested in the Maxima (braid 8) after reading this thread. Any idea where I can get the line from (in yello / HV) that ships internationally? Only online shop that sells em is TackleWarehouse but they dont have em in yellow.

If all else fails i'll fall back on smackdown.

Thanks!

After quite a bit of time spent with the Maxxima.

I'm switching all my reels over to Fins 40g

The maxxima is great line.

But the fins 40g despite it's bullshit diameter rating. Is, at least to me. Better. It's the best line ive ever used for FW. Spooling up a few stella sw, saltiga and another stella fi along with a new undisclosed baitcasters. Gonna spool up some new steez twings as well.

crap's pricey....but after more than half a season and thousands of casts...it's still performing like it was just spooled.

It's a sheathed line..and doesn't rely on coatings for it's body. I like braids that have a bit of memory retention....(not like mono) but this has enough that tip wraps are non existant...and it doesn't twist at all which is evident by the lack of twist at leader joins.
thousands of casts and not a fiber out of place....
Best casting braid i've ever used.
Great stuff..
