Thanks for posting the link.
It looks like Loomis fans hoping for a full handle GLX will have to wait longer. From what it appears they are still using split grips. Maybe there will be a few models offered in full grip kind of like Dobyns does with their Champions and Champion Extremes.

Although I like the aesthetics from what I can see, that is a real shame if they don't offer full grip models. I found their classic MBR series to be amazing and really enjoyed the full grips...

I really doubt about it.Fishing4Fun wrote:Thanks for posting the link.

Man, I just spent a half hour looking at everythung. Loads of cool new stuff...very satisfied so fsr. The line welder really caught my eye. Supposedly fuses lines with surgical precision eliminating knots. Sounds interesting...

I'm always utterly amazed people get so animated about full or split grips and whether they're cork or duplon. Your reel hand rarely touches the handle, it's mainly on the reel seat whether you're palming a baitcaster or holding a spinning reel. Your other hand might occasionally touch the butt of the rod when you do a 2 handed cast, which for most would be the minority of the time. It's purely aesthetic and shouldn't be a deal breaker, or maker, in my eyes.

Having one hand on the grip just below reel seat, the other hand with a split grip is usually wrapped around blank. That's awkward to me personally. Split grip is okay a long as the rear grip is long enough to place my full hand around. Usually it is not.Tim Kelly wrote:I'm always utterly amazed people get so animated about full or split grips and whether they're cork or duplon. GLX actually looks pretty good. I like the looks of the Legend Glass rods as well. Old School.
Re: ICast preview, look at new GLX
it looks reasonable to me. Not great but reasonable.
I have posted since 2008 I wish they would have the full rear handle and none on the front. They don't seem to listen.
Gloomis lost sales when split grips came out. This forum and many more bashed them as they were not progressive. Now we bash them because they won't go back. The only option they have is to offer both. Since most are sold online today I don't see why they don't do this. Dealers don't carry inventory any longer to speak of.

You can still buy the old MBR lineup in many places. That's what I've done the last year. Love the full cork and the Sic guides.

a "fade paint process within the butt section"? i dunno about that or the carbon fiber band on the rear grip or the blue accent stripes. looks like one person designed the rod from the grip forward while someone else designed the rest.

I wish they would use fuji reel seats. These reel seats always seem to get sticky or "melt" which i am not a fan of and i am always careful with my gear

I agree completely. It is almost like they took a scoop of ice cream from each bucket and called it done. If they want a blue and carbon fiber looking theme carry it through the rest of the rod. If they want something plain an in neutral colors leave the blue and carbon fiber off.21farms wrote:

If this all the better they could come up with I would expect low sales and negative feedback, especially among folks that care about the looks and flow of the rod.
Would have loved to see a fairly simply but classic looking GLX with at least a few models offered in full grips.
Oh well, it is what it is.
