Found a sweet Loomis

Post by andrey » Fri Jun 24, 2016 11:00 am

This is not by all means a sexy JDM Rod but nonetheless its pretty cool to me. Found this Like new condition MBR783 GLX with Weibe seat. I love how it feels, gonna be a great senko, tube, jerkbait and wacky Rod.

I not sure when the quit making the Weibe seat. I'll do some research.

Weibe reel seats went out in the mid-90's so I'd say 20 years plus.

So Rod could be at least 20 years old! Can't believe it doesn't even have a scratch on it.

The Weibe reel seats stopped being used right around 2000. To many at the time, that rod, along with the 783, were the best rods ever made up to that point. The glx set the standard for many to try and follow and that rod in that condition has a lot of collectible value. What did you pay if you don't mind me asking? Thanks and best wishes with it!

I have an imx 783c with a weibe that is awesome...it's like new with a like new chronarch 100sf on it.

Nice score! I still consider that era GLX to be the best blank ever made. I love my JDM's but nothing feels like a GLX. If only G Loomis would partner with a JDM brand, kinda like Jackall did with Shimano, that would be epic. Great rod and catch a big one!
