Any love for the Hygua yet?

Post by ferrysj » Tue Aug 25, 2015 1:17 pm

I want a 2pc ML for casting and lure ratio 1/8-1/2. Volkey and Hygua are top of list now. $150 price range.
Anyone have feedback on the Hygua?

most of the models aren't shipped yet...just played around with the few softer action rods, 6'9L, 66ml, and 63UL.

Just ordered a 2 piece 7'2" heavy. Time will tell. Got a 7'6" heavy Volkey the other day and it's fine, but typical Volkey as it looks better than it fishes. It's fine, but a cheap blank. Look forward to seeing how Megabass handle the same area.

Keep us updated.
I'm thinking about buying a Hyuga in the near future.

I thought that too about the Volkey line.

The only other Volkey I've seen was the BFS one I thought that was a very dead feeling rod too.

Hyuga is easier, and actually more correct
Hyuga means "place in the sun"

I have the 66L. Very light and sensitive. I lifted a 12" largemouth onto shore to test its lifting power. It got the job done. I was fishing a 1/8oz nose hooked DS rig in a weedy lake and was able to rip and snap the rig out of the weeds. I felt everything going on at the end of my line (6lb co-polymer). Gonna test it out with hardbaits soon. I typically fish an older cork handle Crucial 66ML for DS'ing, but its pretty obsolete now that I have the Hyuga. Gary at TackleTrap set me up with the rod. Can't say enough great stuff about TackleTrap.

My 7'2 heavy Hyuga just arrived. First impressions are very good. A nice stout stick that should do a good job with the punch rigs when I next get a chance to use them. Just what I wanted.

Have you had a chance to fish it yet? The 72h might be my next rod.

Was at The Tackle Trap last week and looked at a Hygua rod and it was beautiful rod, pictures don't do it justice.
