Low ratio left Curado I
Bantam... with the popularity of the Curado I, has there been a conversation about adding a 5.x ratio to the lefty selection?

Unfortunately not. The demand for lefty 5:1 Curado decreased every year. We decided to drop it from the line up.

Quite disappointed! I had to buy a Curado 201B5 from a flea market board... hope they are as bullet proof as Shimano fans claim.

The "b" isn't bullet proof (although the Super Free version is close), however, the "d" is bullet proof.

Re: Low ratio left Curado I
There are simply not enough lefty anglers that need a slow ratio Curado. Plus with the modern gearing in our reels there really isn't much need. The 6.2:1 reels have more than enough power to fish the deep cranks.

It's about retrieving baits at the correct speed, repetitively.Bantam1 wrote:The 6.2:1 reels have more than enough power to fish the deep cranks.

That's a cadence issue. I understand your point, but you can find the right cadence with a slightly faster reel. You just slow down the retrieve slightly.
Re: Low ratio left Curado I
Me personally, I hate when I have to turn the handle slow when using deep cranks . I would rather turn the handle a little faster and easier with a 5:1 ratio reel.
Re: Low ratio left Curado I
Sometimes even that is too fast. So I bought one of those curado CU-201B38's which is a 3.8:1 retrieve. This is one reel I doubt I will ever get rid of unless something better comes along.joekaz wrote:Me personally, I hate when I have to turn the handle slow when using deep cranks . I recently purchased a weedless spinnerbait and put it on a 7.2:1 retrieve and it was way too fast for the lure. Retrieving slower was a pain so I pulled out the B38 and problem solved! Now it is a finely tuned super smooth set up when lure speed and reel speed are closely matched.

I hate these high speed reels.
