The New Daiwa Presso Shock and Awe
Needless to say I am thrilled, and have to give a big shout out to PLAT and Fishing shop OGAWA and Harada and Ogawa for the fast shipping and A+ service. They are fast becoming my favorite place for tackle.
How many of you thought the reel was black and brass? Well I sure did, but I got a little surprise. It is black and orange and it's Halloween debut is fitting. Needless to say I may need to find a another reel for my I'ZE knobs now. I think the Presso deserves black, or if I'ze would come out with some knobs to match the spool and accents.
It is the the lightest baitcasting reel on the planet. With the I'ZE knobs on my postal scale it weighs 5.4 oz or 153 grams , with the Daiwa compressed cork knobs it comes in at 5.25oz, or 149 grams . This is lighter than the reported 155 grams on the box.
The finish is a Mat black that is probably the most durable I have seen on a reel. It was obviously desigened for small creek, and river fishing where a angler may fall, or drop it.
That is it for now , off to the river to tangle with some rainbows.

That would look nice with a ZPI though and do you think it would be lighter with that handle?

Nice looking reel. I wish they'd make a large model in that color combo.

Re: The New Daiwa Presso Shock and Awe
No weight difference once you add the extra bearings. They weight with full assembly would be almost the same. It would obviously be smoother. However, I am not going to mess with this one, I think Daiwa got it right. The 70mm handle is perfect what what this was designed for. I think I will save the money for something else. These knob cap caps really set it off.skeeterboy77 wrote:That would look nice with a ZPI though and do you think it would be lighter with that handle?

clicking drag?
Re: The New Daiwa Presso Shock and Awe
Looks like a triple black finish
I would put a ZPI handle on it and weigh it.

The original handle looks great, I wouldn't change it.

Now that´s a very nice looking reel, I love black reels. Too bad that I can´t purchase one for trout fishing, trout here are normally hatchery raised and are anything but small.
Re: The New Daiwa Presso Shock and Awe
I know Daiwa is calling it a "Presso"! I want to know if Presso = Pixy painted black? I did notice the I'ZE spool is called a "Libertro Pixy, Presso" so the spool size is the same. What is different about the Presso?
