Shimano Curado E video how do they cast like that???
Shimano Curado E video how do they cast like that???
Did you see the shimano curado E video with Dahlberg??? Its a good video, but check out minute 4:40 were L.D. pop´s in all pins of the VBS and cast´s. He casts so far that all his line is casted. The reel ends up empty!!!
My question is:
A. Is it even possible to cast that far or is this a trick??
B. If he pops in all pins of the VBS and casts that strong, shouldnt he get a hugh birdnest???? If it is possible to do that what for is the VBS even there???

His spool tension is setup perfectly probably.

Under perfect conditions (no wind or wind at your back)with a very good casting lure and a skilled thumb it is possible. It's not very realistic because these conditions rarely exist when out on the water.

Do you have a link? What size Curado was it?
Re: Shimano Curado E video how do they cast like that???
On my Curado I only run two brake pins, and often find myself thinking I should drop it down to one. This is probably because I have gotten used to my Steez. I dial my CC knob just tight enough where the spool will not move from side to side when in free spool, this lets me have more consistency across my arsenal, and when needed I just adjust the brakes to accommodate the conditions.

That was definitely a trick. The new Antares will supposedly cast a lure 99-100 meters. The E series holds well over that, so he didn't spool it.

Haha, yeah. You could even hear the unmistakable sound of the brakes spinning when he threw it, so not only was this impossible but pretty hokey too.muskyhunter wrote:Lol. He probably has 50 yards spooled.

Come on Larry!!!

yea, when casting, my spool spins longer but I'm not that near to spooling it.

Re: Shimano Curado E video how do they cast like that???
When i was taught how to cast shimano reels i had to do it with 0 brakes.. i leave it at 2 just in case theres strong wind but usually a trained thumb is all that is needed.. its very hard to spool a curado e especially stock cause of the line capacity.. i almost spool my curado e7 upgraded abec7 bearings 0 brakes but thats with a 1.5oz lure.. i can spool a chronarch d7 upgraded abec7 bearings 0 brakes 3/4oz lure

The reel was a 200E5 or 200E7; those were the reels he was field testing in that video.
If you look at 4:38 in the video, just before he does the test, you see that the reel is low on line. Apparently he had lost some during the day.
At the beginning of the video, you see him loading the reel off a bulk spool. The label looks like Maxima. Maxima is one of the thickest lines for rated strength out there, and for fishing flooded trees in Mexico he was probably using 17 or 20 lb. test.
So you have a half-filled spool of very thick line, even thicker because he's been fishing for a while and it has absorbed water. There weren't many yards of it to cast. Nothing impressive or hard to believe in the fact that he casted to the end of the line on the spool.

Seems like from those who are sponsored it's hard to believe anything seen or heard.

It is possible to throw without brakes, it is just a matter of figuring out how hard you can swing the rod and how much thumb you need to use. Once you have this dailed in you can get some really good distance on your casts. Just be prepared to go through a lot of line in the meantime Also, a partially filled spool has significantly less line than a full one--a half filled spool has MUCH less than half the line....
