Re: How many rods?
Depends on what I'm fishing for and which kayak I'm in. If I'm bass fishing in a lake and in the Pro Angler I'll have 6 or 7 with me. If i'm in a faster river fishing for bass I'll be in the Coosa and have 3-4 max usually. If I'm striper fishing 3 max you want to be ready if the big one takes off. Catfishing usually 3. The type of water, species, and kayak determine how many rods I'm carrying the Tarpon 120, Tarpon 160, Hobie Revolution only feel comfortable with 3 rods max, and the Coosa I'll carry up to 6, and the Pro Angler I'm fine with 8, but usually don't carry that many.

Re: How many rods?
I'm pretty minimalistic in my approach. I have comfortably carried up to 5 rods on big water, but usually keep it down to 2 now. Instead of bringing a ton of tackle with me like I used to, I now usually pre-plan for the approach by bringing only the tackle that I'm fairly sure I'll use and the appropriate rods to use them. I've just had too many days where I've had EVERYTHING with me, but found myself literally using 1 rod and 3 or 4 lures the entire day.

Re: How many rods?
I usually bring 2 or 3. I can potentially carry 5+ rods if I felt inclined to do so but, the way my rod holders are positioned, I never have more than two rods out of my rod locker at once.
Re: How many rods?
I was thinking I would only bring two. My jig rod and cranking rod most of the time. And when I am trout fishing probly only one.

Re: How many rods?
I bring 6 or so on the wavewalk i have. 3 Ram revolution holders and then i have made this holder "quiver" out of those bank rod holders BPS sells. I have a lot of boats pull up to check out my yak...not many wavewalks in MN...one guy commented that i looked like some kind of floating spy station, what with all the antennaes sticking up.
Gonna try to post a review and pics of the wavewalk in the next few weeks, maybe. That thing is the hillbilly 4x4 of the yak world. Love it.

Re: How many rods?
I pack 3 to 4 even for trout on my trident 13. I have a dry box with a 3 rod holder mounted on it behind my seat and a ram mount holder up front. Generally I have my fly rod tube stowed away in my rod pod as well. I've tried to cut down on the amount of rods and gear I bring but it never seems to work. In fact it's getting worse lol.
For bass I take a DS, Crank, Jig, and generally a light spinning for tiny cranks.
For trout I bring an 5'9 UL, a 6'9 L, my nrx drop shot, and my fly rod.
I'd love to get a hobie w/ mirage drive. But I'd miss the rod pod too much. Being able to store even 1pc 8' rods in the hull is just too good to pass up.

Re: How many rods?
I only carry three. One set up for trolling, one for casting, and a spare. More than that is just to many for me. I end up spending more time fooling with the gear than fishing.

Re: How many rods?
When fishing freshwater, I bring with me 2 rods and reels. One for topwater, big baits, and spinners and another for finesse applications (drop shot and soft plastics).
When I go saltwater, I bring three. One is a Baitcasting combo for topwater lures/big jerkbaits/casting Jigs/Spoons. The next one is a light Spinning combo for small plastics, spoons, and topwater lures and this combo can double as a sabiki rig and an Eging combo. The third rig and a slightly heavier overhead rod and reel for big plastics, vertical jigs or madai/Tai-kabura jigs and this rig that can be used for live-lining/slow trolling.

3 to 4 depending on how much room you have.

Re: How many rods?
For me it really depends on what time of year it is but for the most part 2 is the # for me but sometimes 3 come along or as little as 1 just depends on how I think I'll be fishing that day this last weekend's fishing trip had me taking just 1 rod fishing was good and I needed nothing else its just a matter of what do you really think you'll be fishing that day.

3 at most. Baitcast rig, spinning rig and always my ultralight rig. Most often it's just the spinning and the ul rig as I prefer light tackle and am somewhat of a minimalist myself.
Re: How many rods?
i usually always bring 2-3 rods, 2 behind me and i hold 1 in my lap area.
i usually choose what to bring already for the trip and just try to use that, so
that i can minimize tackle.
just know what your gonna aim for and how your gonna catch it,
and try bring that out.
this only works if you know the body of water your fishing at already though

Re: How many rods?
I really depends where I am fishing but I have been known to bring anywhere from 2-5 rods with me. With my current crate setup I can carry 5 comfortably.
