SCORPION XT 1500 vs CHRONARCH D5

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

SCORPION XT 1500 vs CHRONARCH D5

Post by bluegill » Sat Apr 23, 2011 7:07 am

I am thinking of trying a SCORPION XT 1500 as a general crankbait reel because of the 6.3:1 gear ratio. The problem is spending as much for a souped up CURADO as I could get a D5 for. I have owned a D5 before & thought it was a bit slow but I am not used to a pure cranking reel. Is the SCORPION that much better than a CURADO or should I buy a D5 and learn to use it?

D5 is more then just a pure cranking reel....you can use it to slow roll swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and of course cranks...its very multi purpose for slower presentations.
