If you had a choice..which would you choose...why?
To stimulate some conversation....if you were given a choice between a new G.Loomis MBR783C GLX or a new Daiwa Steez STZ 671MHFBA which would you choose as your single fishing rod?
Both appear to be pretty evenly matched on paper......both MH casting.
Curious to hear the rationale for making a choice given a one rod only scenario.
I personally would lean towards the Steez for lightness, and components used in the rod. I think the Steez would be as sensitive as the G. Loomis rod based on articles I've read. Both offer life-time warranties. Would be happy to hear what you think.

Steez, since I haven't owned one yet and I like the 6'7" length over the 6'6" even though it is just 1".
The hard part is the cost diff...if the cost was within $50.00 more for the Steez, it would be a no-brainer pick of the Daiwa over the GLX...for me anyway.

I would choose the steeze for the same reasons as you. Also for the wow factor.
My opinion is based solely on looks and component used since I have not owned either rod.

No brainer in several aspects: the GLX because I can order it today and have it tomorrow at my home, don´t have to pay shipping, only pay sales taxes ( no import tax ) , GLoomis dealer in Mexico just in case something goes wrong.
WOW factor --> Steez, because I´m an enthusiast and I blew my last functional brain cell a long time ago.

Re: If you had a choice..which would you choose...why?
This is a no brainer. The Loomis is the same rod it was 15 years ago frozen in time just like the company itself. The Steeze is new tec, top drawer tec, from a company that is on the cutting edge of fishing technology . Steeze all the way. It's a similar question as to would you buy a Cadillac or BMW. The Loomis represents the Caddy in this analogy, lol. You pay a little more but it is definitly worth it. Snidley
Re: If you had a choice..which would you choose...why?
The Loomis. I have used them exclusively for the last 5 years. There are a lot of new rods and a lot of flash. With the loomis you know that you are getting quality and a great warranty. You ever notice that all rods are compared to Loomis. There is reason for that. They work.

And three out of four respondants among those surveyed agree!!!raul wrote:No brainer ... because I´m an enthusiast and I blew my last functional brain cell a long time ago.
P.S. Go with the Loomis... Gadget

That's a tough one. I would have to go with the GLX due to the lower cost and the warranty of Loomis rods. That Steez is one sweet looking rod though...

Looks don't catch fish. GLX hands down the most sensitive graphite available for fishing rods.

We just can't get through one of these threads with some sort of civility anymore can we?

My vote goes to the Steez, the first time I held this rod I new it was something special. I have yet to hold or fish with a G Loomis that I felt was worth the money, but thats just me

When I posted this...I meant for the choice to mean "free"..no cost to you. Pick the the you want as your one rod. Cost always colors our decisons....sorry I wasn't more clear in my orig post.

I'd say Steezy fo sheezy but i'd go with the new Machinegun Cast Type II. It's a MH 6'6" powerfishing rod and a perfect compliment to my 6' Raptor.
