13 Fishing Defy Black Crankbait Casting Rod 7'4"

Post by mark poulson »

Matt,
When will this rod be back in stock at Tacklewarehouse?
What is the difference between the Defy and the Fate crankbait blanks?

The Rod Series was launched at 2020 Icast Online, and will be available in January.

I think the 7'9" crankbait rod was the only one that shipped earlier

Update.
My TW rod was delivered two weeks ago.
I was impressed right away with how nicely it was finished, plus it is light and balances with very little butt weight.
In the garage, the blank had a true moderate action, bending down to the mid point of the blank.
I finally got to fish it this last Monday. Cold, muddy water, and mod air temps, with little wind. I put one of my Concept Z reels on it, with 50lb braid, and a 20lb fluoro leader.
I threw cranks from 12 grams to 1 oz, and I can honestly say it casts like a dream, and longer than both my older graphite crank rods and a Lews KVD crank rod I just picked up. Plus, it is so light it's easy to fish for hours, which I did. It is 70 grams lighter than the Lew's rod.
I didn't get bit, so I don't know how it will be with a fish on, but I'm guessing, with the line and reel combo I'm using, it will be fine.
I just bought two more, and will take them out this week. I'm going to see if they will cast 1/2 oz spinnerbaits and chatterbaits as well as they cast cranks.
So far, two thumbs up!!

I haven't tried the rods for spinnerbaits yet, but I did land an 8 lb largie on a 2.5 squarebill yesterday.
The rod allowed me to winch the fish out of the shallow grass (even though I felt one of the trebles pull loose as I winched it), kept it hooked when it dug deep several times around the boat, and then as it jumped twice. =D> =D> =D>
