That's what I've been using. I want to step away from taping on reels now. As also looking into using more bait casting for ice fishing.

That's what I've been using. I want to step away from taping on reels now. As also looking into using more bait casting for ice fishing.
Why step away from taping?
Just curious

I would also like to use some baitcasting reels for ice fishing, maybe a Aldebaran MGL

It's different feel for every set up. There's always some flex/give from the cork/tape. I prefer a reel seat, your fingers/hand knows it, and it's that way. Move to a different rod, with like reel seat and your hands know it.
