handle bearings

Post by bigbaitfishing » Sat Dec 03, 2016 3:41 am

is there any upgrades to make the handle knobs spin better ? seems like they are really hampered by the bushing closest to the handle , any tricks or tips ???

The A and C Concept handles have a built in bushing on the bottom of the handle knob post....with a bearing at the top. If you want your knobs more "spinny" you can upgrade to the carbon handle(with bearings in both positions) or go with a Concept E handle with two bearings in each knob.

also maybe trying removing the grease on the knob bearings and using oil instead.

A very light oil and grease mix on bushings help.

With bearings apply some grease to the handle shaft post before adorning the bearing and spin it slowly while pushing it down, it makes a face seal of grease on the bearing, which'll help stop water entering them.

Depends on how wet you fish your reels but there is a pro side to bushings especially kayak based reels!

I use TSI 321 on my handle bearings and it works great. I wade fish a lot and my knobs get wet constantly. Have not had a single problem with them since using TSI. Just add a drop inside the knob once a month, and they are smooth and quiet.
