Omen Green 7'2" MH Questions

Post by djd » Thu Mar 05, 2015 1:31 am

I'm looking for a good 7'+ rod for 3/8-3/4 spinnerbaits & chatterbaits, 3/8-1/2 buzzbaits and 1/4 - 1/2 swimjigs. Is the action moderate enough for these baits? Does this rod throw 3/8+ baits well?

thx

I have one and I think so. But it is a powerful rod. If you are always throwing moving baits in sparse grass or open water I would look at the medium. I use mine for spinnerbait/buzzbait on occasion but it is a dynamite swim jig rod and t-rig rod.

I own the 7'2" MH Omen Black. I'm not sure how similar their blanks are. It was fine for casting all the baits you mentioned, but I found it too stiff and fast when using spinnerbaits for my taste. I prefer more of a moderate fast taper. If you don't, I think you will like this rod for those applications very much.

*edit*
So I just checked the specs on the Omen Green... It is speced as more powerful than the MH Omen Black. I would think it is probably too much stick for you described applications. The M seems about right though.

We recommend you take a look at the EBC74C crankbait specific rod....should be perfect for your application.
