Daiwa SS Tournament

When was the Daiwa SS Tournament spinning reel released? Not looking for a guestimate but actually for the first year it was introduced. I think I remember seeing these same reels in the BPS Master Catalog in like 1989 but wanted to be sure. Are they really over 25 years old and unchanged? When did they change from Japan to another country in manufacturing of these reels? Thank you!
