Re: Daiwa SS
The SS is a new reel that Daiwa says it the true successor to the TDZ not sure what the S's stand for, as for the SV it is a spool that is labeled as "Stress free Versatile" (?) per Daiwa.jwfflipper14 wrote:Talking about the ss, what does SS SV stand for? maybe I'm not ready something right.

Here is the SS, which is basically a watered down Steez that comes from the factory with the SV (103 model) spool.

Re: Daiwa SS
Speaking of the SS, What is the "speed shaft" feature all about? Is it something new, never before seen in a daiwa reel?Daiwa wrote:So far we have no plans.

"And now I'll give you one from Daiwa., Daiwa's "SUPER SPEED SHAFT" design completely disengages the spool from the gear train during outcast. So there's no friction between the pinion gear and spool shaft as with other reels. The result is X-Treme casting ease with even the lightest of lures."Afrayedknot wrote:Speaking of the SS, What is the "speed shaft" feature all about? Re: Daiwa SS
This was posted in the other thread about daiwa's new 2014 reels and someone said it was a new feature.. It got me confused because I thought the usual free floating spool was already completely disengaged from the drive train..
Re: Daiwa SS
After reading about it, Daiwa says "Free spool time, the structure separates the shaft and spool, supported by only BB spool. Because of the extra resistance is eliminated will be shaft-less, I can be obtained spool rotation ideal."Afrayedknot wrote:This was posted in the other thread about daiwa's new 2014 reels and someone said it was a new feature.. So it sounds like what their high mid level and top level reels have had.
The Steez has it, the SS, PX68 SPR, Alpha 105, T3, and Zillion all have it, however the Lexa (Blazon) and Tatula do not mention it at all.

Re: Daiwa SS
I am guessing that they reintroduced the speed shaft advertising to differentiate from there new reels that have gone away from that design . Eg . Tatula , lexa , etc
Re: Daiwa SS
Could be...and this ad works wonderfully! How does that go?
Something to the tune of "Soul of T-Rex?"
