bennifits of usdm vs jdm

Wondering why its profitable to make different versions of the same reel. Would it not drop the price for everyone to keep them the same? Volume drops unit price or am I missing something?

JDM reels have different specifications. Sometimes the spools are shallower for lighter line applications. In Japan they like to fish light line for finesse type fishing. Not so much in the U.S. Also some reels will have more ball bearings but will be the same model so you will get more longevity or smoothness. But you will pay for the changes. They are more willing to pay more for upgrades in Japan than they are in the U.S.

Different tastes for different markets. Car companies are the same way.
