Qutestion: Daiwa Baitcasting Spools

Post by Finnz922 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 8:33 am

Why is Daiwa transitioning away from the Free Floating Spool in the Tatula, Lexa, Exceler(guessing), Aird, and Laguna reels? I have owned Daiwa since I learned how to use a baitcaster and from the Advantage, TDX, Sol, and on up to the Steez they have all been Free Floating Spools. Is this going to move up to the upper echelon reels or is this a cost saving design for the "affordable, weekend warrior" price range reels?

I have been wondering about this myself.

Free floating spools are more costly. I would not say that we are transitioning away from them but would probably be found on our more expensive designs. It also depends on the design of the reel. With the Tatula we were able to achieve a longer cast because of the TWS System.
