Would you describe the blanks as having the familiar feel and look as the JDM Shimano / Jackall rods, with tapers and powers more in line with typical Shimano USDM rods?
The tapers are all G.Loomis MBR/SJR ... the blanks are similar in appearance to the Shimano sticks because they're using Shimano technology to roll the blanks. But they're rolled according to G.Loomis specs. G.Loomis does not have the machinery in Washington to roll the blanks the way Shimano does in Japan hence the joint venture. These are not repurposed blanks.

The difference in weight is for the blanks, not the overall built rod. Unless the rods are built with the exact same components and grip, you're not going to see that difference on a scale.

Feel free to remain skeptical over these rods. I myself need more time with them and would love to see a one power in the spinning lineup. Perhaps they will eventually come. BUT there is something real and discernibly different in the way the rods perform. For one, they are much more crisp during a cast. Second, as Zander explained, when you have a fish at the end of the line, the power in these sticks is unreal. They shut off like an Extra-Fast taper. Plenty of people will be turned off because of the cost and will discount these rods as simply marketing hype. They're even going to claim we're biased in our coverage and reviews of these sticks too.

TT has hardened me. I'm always skeptical of new products too, but that's why we fish everything we write up. People still don't believe us - too bad. There's a real benefit to these sticks. Now, whether that benefit is worth the coin, that's for each individual to decide for themselves. But for those whom cost is not an issue yet still remain skeptical, well those people are going to miss out - plain and simple.
Thanks a lot for the explanation, makes sense when you say it's the blank weight unfinished. That extra cork for the handle could easily be the difference. Not complaining about the weight at all, just that the info isn't really clear on what they are comparing to.

Unfortunately, we have to remain skeptical these days with all the marketing claims floating around, especially when we are taking about a $600+ rod. TT reviews have helped with a lot of my purchases, and I appreciate the straight up info you guys post up for us. In the end, I'll have to purchase a couple to try and experience for myself. Thanks

Yeah, when manufacturers make statements about different rods in their lineups weighing more or less than the other, they are always referring to blank weight. There are too many variables in components to make reliable claims on overall builds.

There are some cases where they'll make that claim about components - like when Daiwa touts their AGS guides - but they are always pretty specific about that claim. Especially at ICAST. I remember the execs at Daiwa talking about how their AGS guides are a certain percentage lighter than comparably sized ti/SiC guides - and I pulled out a scale and said show me.

Have you ever fished Shimano Poison Ultima, 2016 Poison Glorious rods?
If yes, how are they similar in feeling to G.Loomis Conquest Rod Series?
I have both a medium and medium heavy Adrena. Definitely more Jdm like power than typical Usdm. The medium makes for a perfect power finesse rod imo. The blank technology in these new rods is familiar to the Poison rods as they are using the same materials and process, of which can only be done overseas. As Cal mentioned, they can't do this in Woodland. However, the powers and tapers are of G Loomis specs. That's why he mentioned in the review the familiar look but surprising power. This is what I'm getting anyways. Jdm technology / materials in a Loomis power package. Best of both worlds plus Torzites all while keeping the familiar Nrx look.

That was Zander's article not mine... and the article is a preview, not a review ... reviews have scores. This article did not. ;)

Sometimes I think less is more and I think that NRX was and still is the sensitivity king, I think the added spiral wraps may be good on a stick with twisting issues, but not needed on the NRX, if anything it'll most likely take away that amazing lively action. They (Shimano) needed to come up with something new and different and this is the best they could come up with right now. From the preview reading between the lines I don't see anything special here except another marketing scheme. I will be first in line to own one to try it for myself but this is the feeling this preview and lackluster advertising is leading me to believe. Just my thoughts take it like everything else with a grain of salt. I remember the hype before NRX came to be, I don't see or feel anything this time around do you.

I knew it was a preview. I was just typing faster than I was thinking. That's how it works when you sneak a little TT time into your work day here and there, and there some more :big grin:

Hi Fishes, I asked the guys at G.Loomis today and it looks like the earliest the rods will be available is the early Sept timeframe.

Not a brand new line yet but the company is branching out with international rods especially into Canada. Some new inshore rods and a few more trout rods. The company also showed us some prototype big game offshore rods, some of he lightest we have ever seen.
