Megabass's Destroyer X7 Aaron Martens 71!

Introduction: By all accounts, Megabass's strategy of introducing in an entirely new audience to the experience of their product with the debut of their "budget" series, the Orochi Double X over two years ago was a success. However, established fans were less than enthused. Last year, the company addressed these fans and upped the ante with a revamp of their base destroyer line. We've been fishing these sticks since their introduction and here now is our first detailed look at the line. Introducing our take on the F7-71X7 Aaron Martens 71 by Megabass.

I always look at that category when they review rods and add 4 points back to the total for rods without. It's a "nice to have" item for me but the fuji ones you clip on work fine when I need one.

Destroyer X7 review by TT

Post by bigturtle »

This is from the recent X7 rod review:

"One very interesting feature of this rod and one that doesn't get scored is the unique Yoloy wrap surrounding the blank. It's a reinforcement for the blank that not only helps the blank resist compression under load, but also provides a degree of protection from dings and nicks to the blank. Yuki Ito demonstrates the durability of this wrap by rubbing the blank against a piece of wood and showing how the wood is scored with no damage to the blank. It's a very interesting feature."

Any video of this? Would be very interested in seeing this in action.

Thanks for pointing out about the Yoloy wrap on the X7 rods. Wasn't aware of the protective feature it offers. Now I need not worry so much when out on the boat with my X7 rods.

Cheers :D

This video is off the Arms, but they have a similiar finish and they do the wood sanding in the end.
